Now that most of the big mobile tech for the fall have been announced, which ones were your favorite (and which were the most disappointing)?

Favorite
1. Huawei Ascend Mate 7- The surprise hit of IFA. I'd really like to get my hands on this.
2. New Moto X/G- Great phones that are not that expensive.
3. LG G Watch R- Better looking than the Moto 360 (and is actually round).
4. Samsung Galaxy Note 4- The best device Samsung has to offer.
5. iPhone 6 Plus- While I don't like iOS very much, this device looks fantastic for iOS lovers. They finally get a lot of the things that we Android users have enjoyed for a long time and will be the phone to get if you like Apple.

Most Disappointing
1. Sony Xperia Z3/Smartwatch 3- Smart watch 3 is easily the worst Android Wear watch yet and the Z3 is unnecessary with no big improvement over the Z2.
2. Gear S- Way too big and bulky to be a good wearable (and the fact that the Gear 2 was released a few months ago really hurts people who bought that).
3. Apple Watch- Ugly and expensive. Also didn't really do much to advance wearables besides better fitness tracking and a better way to navigate through apps (both could be easily implemented into Android Wear).
4. iPhone 6- It seems like this was just an afterthough to Apple. Everything good went into the 6 Plus and this just got worse versions of that. It's like the 5c was released with the price of the 5s. No reason to get this over the 6 Plus, especially since both have the stupid back button at the top.
5. Nokia 730/830- Too expensive and the 830 should have a more powerful processor, but fine besides that.

I am at the point where I do not care about phones with manufacturer UI so I'm a bit bias, those are the only phones in my consideration.

Probably the Moto G, and second by the X. I think the 2014 G is probably the best value smartphone to date, with sdcard, 5" screen, a decent camera and dual speakers. Once they release the LTE version it will be untouchable by competition.

I'm looking forward to the Nexus phone next.

I really the like the Moto x. I love the that they can have wood back or leather. I also like that it not that gimmickee, if that's a word. It looks simple to use and has what I need and want.

I also like the Sony Xperia Z3. I know that it does not have much upgrades from the Z 2, but hey its a beautiful phone.

Totally DISSAPOINTED, TOTALLY I TELL YOU with the iPhone. So it is bigger, finally!!!! Again, minimal changes and it still looks like the iPhone five.

Moto x and experia z3 with the waterproofing is my favorites. Least favorite is now the iPhone. Just seems like the 6 should have been more game changing. Just seems like a refresh on the software side like an "s" model would be. Plus they added NFC and people are going to act like mobile payment is some big innovation. Its sickening and I'm done.

I'm looking at the new x or z3. Since I have two young kids having a good camera is essential. I really want the X, but im just not sold on the camera yet.

The Moto X is the only one that has really caught my interest.

I had high hopes for the Lumia 830 as a replacement for my 1020 but the processor killed that for me.

I will say that I'm happy that the iPhone finally ditched the blocky design of the 4/4s/5/5s and is using curved edges but it's crazy that a phone with a 4.7" screen is almost as big as the Galaxy S5 (not including thickness) with its 5.1" screen.

I actually prefer the old design of the 5. The 6 just looks ugly (and is anyone else annoyed that the 6 Plus is the actual word instead of being 6+? I know it's not that big of a deal, but it feels like a + would fit better).

Looking forward to the new Nexus devices too. I recently got a Nexus 5 (a little over a month ago), originally just to use until some new stuff came out, but I really like it. I just might keep it for good if the Nexus 6 isn't a big improvement. My Nexus 7 is something that I really would like to replace, so the Nexus 9 is what I'm more excited for.

I'm pretty excited about the Z3 Compact. Seems like Sony is the only player that truly gives a damn about the under 5" clan, as small as we may be.

Still waiting. I'm looking for a high end phone(proc & Ram) with a 5.2" or 5.3" screen, doesn't have huge bezels, is durable ( I don't like cases), and has wireless charging.

Note 4 and Edge caught my attention the most along with the G Watch R and Moto 360. iPhone 6 nothing bad about it but just ok. That Apple Watch well I'm sure there'll be a lot of bands to choose from but other than that nope.

I, too got excited about the Note 4 and even the Note curve. I love my wife Note 3.

I'll place them on my list to research.
Thanks.

I'm really liking the Sony Xperia Z3, I might get it

Why did you find the Moto X disappointing?

Battery, no SD card, camera and price. I think it would have been fine for a less expensive 4.7" phone, but at 5.2" it just doesn't seem to compete with the other flagships that are only slightly more expensive.

Battery isn't bad from initial reviews, but we'll know once more people get their hands on one. SD card...fair enough. Camera is at least a big improvement over the original
As far as price, I'd say it's worth it. The original debuted at $600, and I would have gladly chosen that over other flagships at the same price. This year it's actually cheaper. The software and ergonomics + built quality of the phone put it at the top of my list, but to each their own I guess.
So you're getting the Note 4?

I don't think it's a bad phone by any means. It actually wasn't initially on my radar screen since I expected it to be too small. It does seem to have a pretty powerful following, but it seems disappointing in that it could have been the clear front-runner if they had bolstered those areas I identified. As it stands, I have two more months until my contract is up. If I had to choose today, I'd go with the Note 4 (with the G3 close behind). As a Windows Phone guy, I'm still holding out hope that there will be a new flagship or a Lumia 1520 refresh to consider, but it's looking less and less likely.

I agree. The battery while not bad, did disappoint me a bit. Would have liked at least 2600 mAh, but I think it'll be fine for me. The rest isn't really a big priority of mine :p
What phone are you currently using?
