Right under the red section, hit the arrow to open the menu.

At the bottom there is the Photos icon, tapping that takes you to the same section as the icon shortcut does.

I think Android L looks pretty awesome. Most OSs seem to be following a general tendency but each with its own implantation. I don't use Android but my wife does and I showed her this and she thought it was quite nice.

Hey, is it just me or does it feel like Android L is more memory intensive. I'd like to think the animations would hamper the performance of lower spec android devices. KitKat was great for those devices.

Light Flow kept rebooting my Nexus 5 in a loop, couldn't stay on for more than 10 seconds. Finally had to uninstall the app. Some serious lagging initially after installing all my apps, but everything working smooth since then. Stock e-mail app still has some lagging.
Overall, I'm liking it so far. The new on-screen buttons aren't that bad, initially changes are tough.

I liked the rolodex style of the notifications, reminds me of what various launchers were doing a while back but Google took it to a more advanced level.

I'm actually liking it so far. The notification change is a little jarring. One swipe down for active notifications. Another swipe down to get at quick settings. Animations are fluid and pleasing. I don't mind the colors and the navigation bar is nice/simple. I don't understand the complaints about it being difficult to understand what they do. Overall, pretty good for a developer preview!

Couple of issues of course with apps: Facebook comments are completely transparent, makes it hard to read. Twitter doesn't work at all (I just installed Falcon instead). Otherwise, I might keep at this as my daily driver for a week or so. Camera works just as good. Bluetooth works. Calls work. Texting/MMS works. The only issue I might have with are wakelocks, which I experienced but a reboot set things to rights. My only complaint about quick settings is they removed the battery indicator. :-( Not a huge deal but I hope they bring it back in the final version.

Anyways, I like the direction stock Android is heading!

I'd prefer the current multitasking to a carousel and I hate the new navigation button design. Hopefully the OEMs improve them

Loaded it for a bit... even got it rooted.... Looks like. New UI layout is pretty slick. The notifications changes are nice too.

As for the new nav buttons.... when I first saw them at I/O, I was a little hesitant. But seeing them on my phone, it doesn't look nearly as odd.... they don't look out of place or anything. So my first impression is pretty positive. Looks good, new UI direction is pretty cool.... I mean, it still looks and feels like Android, so it isn't like it is a huge departure. Just new.

Depending on how many apps weren't compatible, I'd consider running it full time. Shame the MultiROM stuff isn't supported.

They should rework the base home screens more. From the home screen it still looks like Android 1 IMO Im surprised there isnt any new widgets to match the flat look also.

NICE! They took that annoying IME chooser notification and dropped it on the nav bar next to the recents button.....

That's part of what the devs will work on; creating and updating apps with the new APIs and design guidelines.

Nexus through spacetime.

Android L is very cool. I had it on my Nexus 5 briefly. Ultimately, I had to go back to Android 4.4.4 for several reasons, I enjoyed it. Obviously, as expected, it was buggy and a little unfinished. The notification shade is kinda slow and it stutters sometimes. Also, guess what? No "clear all" button.

One thing that was unexpected was that Dropbox was dead. No workie. So, that in itself required I go back to 4.4.4. Oh well, it was fun to try it. I can't want to get the final product on my Nexus 5 in the fall.

I'm assuming they'll do this for the final release, but I could really use some updated icons that are all the same size. And an updated app drawer that let's you hide apps you don't use all the time.

I found tethering doesn't work, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. On top of that when you try to make the connection it kills data for the phone. Everything looks like it should be ok but it's not going to work until you restart the phone

Really impressed (also, while the Back-home-multitask button layout seems a bit odd, it actually looks nice). I think it's a beautiful design upgrade for Android and brings more consistency into the UI. Google Now is awesome and Google has been veering in the cards direction for nearly a year and a half now, so Android has, even in Stock form, looked inconsistent. L really seems like a streamlining of Android's design philosophy.

That being said, I'm a full package guy! I want hardware. And good hardware too. I feel like the writings on the wall for Nexus, but if Android Silver is indeed a real thing, everyone better be bringing it. Stock Android plus an awesome camera with OIS, a low-power battery saving feature, MICROSD, and IP67 would seal the deal.

One of the reason why I've stuck with Samsung and TouchWiz all these years is that my objections to software are nowhere near as intense as my objections to hardware. The Nexus line has looked compelling, but I still have reservations. So this is an exciting step, but I'm still waiting for a Nexus worthy of flagship status.

Google's Dave Burke says that there will still be Nexus devices. From his comments, through he would not comment on Silver, it sounds as if it will replace the GPE devices, not the Nexus devices.

I've noticed better antialising on the widgets when they resize
