Sorry for the delay in responses, been busy with work and unable to play with my GTV lately. So I accomplished some of my goal in getting the android app to command more than the out of the box functionality, but not nearly as much as I wanted; and definitely not wife friendly.
Successes:
Can now control the receiver to listen to tuner, select next or previous preset, switch to DVD input, toggle between dolby and other surround settings, and a few additional things.
Failures:
Ability to actually control the blu ray player.
How I accomplished my semi-workaround:
In the android app, click on menu, settings, edit activity buttons. This screen allows you to add buttons to the "watch google tv" activity. If you long press anywhere in the screen, it will bring up a "select device" dialog box. Whatever device you choose will bring up all of the known commands for the harmony series for that device. So on this screen you can add buttons that can manually allow you more control over your devices.
For example on my screen I have 4 columns of buttons, 4 rows each, to allow me to do certain tasks. If I want to listen to the radio, I have a button to switch to the tuner on the receiver. Then I press a button I added to turn off the TV power. Lastly I have preset next and preset previous buttons in this row. (For volume etc, I can use the same volume controls built into the app to control my receiver).
I also added a button to switch to the dvd input, but I cannot add any buttons to control my blu ray player. I can still control volume, surround mode, etc, but cannot play, stop, pause, etc in the blu ray itself.
I'm guessing if you really want to take this a step further, you can manually add one of your devices to the harmony app (instead of selecting a receiver, manually add all of your controls via the IR learning function, and when done teaching the system the receiver controls, teach it the dvd controls) and then control everything.
It shouldn't be this hard though. If Logitech would only add the ability to add "activities" and devices, like you can on the full harmony line, this would be much much simpler. Also, on a side note, in the logitech survey, I re-iterated the issues I stated in my email to logitech. I also requested that they develop a tablet optimized application, that allows for more buttons on the screen, utilizing the tablet screen real estate. ( I have an archos 101 on order that I purchased to control my revue system, back when I thought the harmony app would be more robust).
