What can Samsung learn from Apple

I appreciate the civility of these forums even when discussing Apple/Samsung.

Try AppleInsider if you want a taste of the darkside.

Literally Samsung is the world's largest phone manufacturer. Why does everyone think apple is number one. Maybe here in the united states, but the most used platform in the world is Android followed by Microsoft then Apple.

Apple is going to be surpassed by Huawei in the next couple years as well.

In the USA, Apple is the biggest. Especially down here in Silicon Valley, birthplace and headquarters of Apple.

They did learn from Apple: make a very good camera, make a very simple phone with no gimmicks, and make the phone look pretty. The next best thing is to optimize RAM usage, Apple gets praised for best optimization. Sales are getting better but still can't beat Apple. No matter what, Samsung, do not copy Apple/HTC/Lenovo and remove the headphone jack.

I second this ! Although to me force touch displays are a gimmick i can do on my s8 the same as that function and i believe you can do it faster though i'm not a "hardcore" app user i mostly open apps to check what's going on (ie reading facebook, twitter when i'm bored). Great idea still but nowhere near the level it could be imho.

Apple is the biggest in terms of single line of phone. They'll sell more of their flagships than any other phone maker.

Samsung offers 2 flagships, S8 and note series. Just curious if you combine those 2 how it compares to appear numbers. Either way, as the normal there are more choices on Android then Apple.

A lack of innovation. I'm sick of having to learn new features every time I buy a new Samsung phone. I mean why can't they just stick to the same features phone after phone? Why does the Note have to be so different from the Note 8? Come on Samsung! Just change the number on the phone and leave the features aloneñ

Well, I don't think it's fair to compare using the Note 7 (for Samsung) and the Note 8 isn't out. I'm still looking for more numbers, but the first thing that leaps out is five million in the first month. Five million S8 sold in 25 days. Projecting out to three months is about 17.5 million if the pace kept up. Even if the same number of notes were sold, it's not equivalent to the 50+million iPhones sold every quarter.

Note: I am not saying anyone is better. I'm saying we need to stop downplaying the competition simply because we don't like them.

Most android manufacturer (including samsung) innovate much more than apple ever does, their phone changes more year after year compared to iphones which didn't for 3 years now (probably 4th with the same design with the 8th) learning new features = innovations they try new things. Most feature that any manufacturer include are easy to learn,if you can't learn those you're probably not made for android (Not saying this in a mean way). The note is different because it appeals to different people (aka those who want/need a pen for buisiness purposes or taking well notes) having the same features year after year imho is counter intuitive no one wou'd buy the same samsung every year without changes (notice i didn't speak about iphones). Like i said alot these past couple days no one forces you to buy it, if you hate innovation that bad don't get android easy as that. IF you're about to say you can't stand iphones then just buy a cheap midrange or a highend midrange (oneplus, huawei etc). This is the beauty of android : choices there's a phone for every person in the world to like wether it be price wise or feature wise.

I'm not down playing anyone. I was just saying Samsung has 2 flagship phones they sell versus Apple's one. So in theory you can say Samsung is splitting their numbers between 2 flagships, so if someone is just looking at numbers of the S8 and not at the note series it could appear Apple sells more. Granted the note 8 isn't released yet, but I expect high demand for it, and the note 7 was booming untill the recall, which that recall would have killed any brand phone, but the fact people were not getting rid of them volunteer says something. I personally think Apple should be counting there blessings the note 7 was recalled, I think it would have had a big impact on their sales if the note 7 survived.

Only in the USA is apple the biggest, every where else the are small fries man. No one really cares about iPhone outside of this country. It's global sales are proof of that.

I believe the person that you quoted was being sarcastic.

I like how Apple removed a feature (headphone jack) but still makes it a bit more complicated by requiring a dongle.
