Hello from Windows world! My phone is dying a slow death. Think I'm going to reserve the white. If the ocean comes available for reservation and is a matte finish like the white I'll cancel the white. Even if it's not a matte finish I may cancel because that's just a beautiful color with the bronze body.

Edit: New information received. As we all know the black is glossy and the white is matte. I just got a message from Essential stating that the Stellar Grey is also matte while the Ocean Depths is glossy.

Love the Ocean Depths colour but I dislike glossy, reflective, slippery, yucky phones. I much prefer a matte finish.

I read that there will be two white versions, the current Pure White that's glossy, and another matte White in the future (I think he demoed it in that interview). It's not available yet due to "cosmetic" issues: [TWEET DELETED]

I can't reserve one (I'm not in the US) but, if I decide to get one, I will definitely go for a matte finish so it's either White or Grey for now.

I got an email today from Essential--did anyone else?

Congratulations on your reservation!
Hi David,
We’ve saved your spot in line. Once your items are ready to be shipped, we will notify you via email to complete your order.

I didn't get an email.. I signed up day one for a white and a black...

Same here no email ... Reserved both black and white first day in the morning.

Edit: Just got the reservation email for the white one which I had reserved first. They are probably slowly going out to everyone.

Will be interesting to see when it'll be ready to purchase. Looks like they wanted the reservation to see how many phones they have to manufacture in the first batch.

I was on their Twitter feed a few days ago and saw someone had asked the question about confirmation emails and they were told to send an email to a specific address. I followed suit and shortly after received my confirmation email. They also said in Twitter that their confirmation emails would be rolling out over the next week or so.

I actually did get 2 separate emails yesterday morning (one for the white and one for the black) but they went into my junk folder...

I received a response to my Tweet that the Pure White is in fact glossy and not matte, which is disappointing. I think a lot of people really want that matte finish. I just received my confirmation email for the white as well. Now to decide whether or not I go through with it when I get the availability email or if I change my mind and wait for the Stellar Gray or the Ocean Depths. I'd prefer the matte texture of the gray, but that blue and brass color combo is really nice.

If glossy is the only option then I am going to pass on it until a matte version is released...

I reserved the black and received the email last week. However, I am now thinking I should go for the grey since it is a matte finish. The idea of swoosh oil is kinda gross.

The most gorgeous color is the ocean depths, but I worry about resale value. Black and grey phones tend to flip easier and with so many unknowns I have no clue if this phone will be a keeper or something I will quickly regret.

Oh, that was your Tweet! Thanks for asking them :)

I'm going to hold off until the matte colours are available and we get some more detailed specs and reviews (looking for confirmation of Dual-sim and NLED). I love the size of this device. I think they nailed the design.

I like to use my phones without a permanent case so I much prefer matte which tends to have a bit more grip and looks better imo, more professional. If enough people order the matte then maybe we'll get more matte colours.

Pretty sure I read either in the specs or in a response to another tweet that it was single-SIM.

I also got a response that the camera will employ electronic image stabilization. I don't think I saw that anywhere in their specs and I hadn't seen anyone else ask the question. Image stabilization is pretty important for me because my hands shake a little bit. If there wasn't any stabilization at all, all my pictures would turn out blurry which is no bueno.

I am surprised and love the idea of no case, I am puzzled though at the lack of an IP rating. On the website for the camera it shows a guy playing around a pool, having a water gun and water balloon fight while capturing it all on video with the phone.

They haven't come flat out and said it's not water proof, just that it hasn't received an IP rating YET. Doesn't mean it won't get one or isn't water resistant to some degree. I'm sure it's probably splash resistant like anything else, but the question is whether or not you can submerge it in water. Not sure why you'd want to though. If you're (maybe not you personally, ChuckG73) that worried about it and an IP68 rating is a make or break decision for you, maybe you should reconsider how you treat your electronic devices.

Definitely seems to be a delay with the phone. It was supposed to start shipping end of the month and no one who reserved has received any notice of an actual sale. I am one of those people.

At the moment I may hold off and wait for the release of the matte black version (to avoid oily looking ceramic smudges). Or maybe even hold off for that Ocean blue color or whatever it is called. It sure as heck looks gorgeous.

I value IP rating and treat my devices better then 9/10 people including never setting the phone down on any surface except cloth.. It’s nice to have to not worry about forgetting my phone in my pocket when I jump in the pool or the occasional pic underwater.

Their Twitter feed mentioned them aiming for an IP57 rating, which is good to 0.10 BAR water pressure. It's advertised as 1 meter depth immersion but the same pressure could come from a hard splash.

Does your touchscreen work underwater? Or, are you triggering the camera using a hardware button and not the display? Can your phone focus correctly underwater or do you manually focus it before submerging? I've seen a few mentions of using an IPx7/IPx8 rated cell phone underwater but am curious how well it actually works. I've never wanted to risk water intrusion, let alone diluted chlorine, even if the phone's mainboard and exterior have hydrophobic coatings.

is the white matte? I reserved both so I could decide as it gets closer
The white is gloss. Only matte color so far is the dark grey. Andy had a matte white prototype in the video but it's nowhere to be found otherwise. White should show less fingerprints either way.

I want the matte dark grey color but plan to give the gloss black a shot. Matte can be slippery and I don't want a slippery phone, even if it shows less smudges/prints.

It's the ocean depths i want. Such a unique color. But it likely won't be ready for months so I will likely have to wait until next year (I am going overseas in October and won't be back for 9 months).
