What do I need to flash boot/shutdown animations with CWM?

Something about the way you're copying that file is not right, but I don't know what it is. If you post a link to the bootanimation I'll make you a Clockwork-flashable zip (I'm assuming ClockworkMod3/EXT4).

Trying to follow along is making my head hurt..lol

Now I also did the manual method of installing new bootable images but the ones I downloaded were from here Bootable Images and all I had to do was follow his directions. Download the file and then rename it exactly bootanimation.zip and then place the file in my /data/local/ using root explorer and once I rebooted it has worked everytime.

Now I'm not sure if his files are set to work that way or if they all might work that way, but it's worth a shot to throw the .zip file in that DIR and see what happens.

Never seen this method, but if it works - great. Give the above a try W0lfy B.

Here are the instructions I followed...

Root Explorer
- Connect your phone to your computer via USB
- Rename the downloaded file to 'bootanimation.zip' and copy to your sdcard
- Disconnect phone from computer
- Open 'Root Explorer'
- Copy/Paste the /sdcard/bootanimation.zip to /data/local/ (make sure it's read/write)
- Reboot

worth a shot.

As far as I know it had to be moved directly into /system/media. Moving it to data I don't think would work, that is normally for installing apps and updates to existing apps only. Just my 2 cents.. ;)

Didn't work but thanks for trying.

 well that sucks. The images I've downloaded from that link all worked that way so the creator of the image must have it setup to work that way somehow..

Good luck!

The problem seems to be that I have plenty of internal space but whenever I go to /system/media it says I have like 7kb for whatever reason. The link to the animations I want is this. It's for CWM 3 but since I didn't really want to convert to EXT4 I wanted to do it the manually way but maybe thats why it isn't working. I really don't know, shouldn't be this hard right?

There are multiple animations there. Post a direct link to the download and I'll give you a CWM2 flashable zip.

Yeah probally a problem with CWM versions. I just flashed a shutdown image from that site and works without any problems. Deffinatly take ragnarokx up on his offer because I think it's the only way you will get these to work.

Just for my own curiosity, why don't you just covert file systems? My main reason for waiting was because I ran a stock phone except for root and never needed it for a ROM/Image. Once I realized I needed to switch to get SRF 1.1 and some of the powerup/powerdown images I wanted I finally made the switch.

Sounds like you have some conflicting information. If your flashing them using CWM I would try clearing the Cache and delvik cache then try again. I know I've had to do this when flashing things in the past.

Whoops, nevermind. I found this thread through search, and didn't notice you guys were epic 4g, i'm running a samsung fascinate =(

So if I download these to my sd card and CWM flash them to my phone I'll have the BYOR animations?? Anything special I would have to do? Or will it just replace the current ones? If so...You are Awesome!

is there a way you could make these CWM3 ? just downloaded and realized these for for 2.x version :( doh
