I'm new to Android and just purchased a 2013 Nexus 7. What do I need to do for security on it? I've heard about the Lookout Security and AntiVirus app. Is this something I should get or should I look into some other options for security such as AntiVirus, Malware protection, etc. Thanks!

You don't need any anti virus, just don't install apps outside of the Play Store or Amazon's app store.

If you do decide to side load an app, make sure it is from a reputable place, like XDA

+1 for the above post. Outside I use avast mainly for its tracking features for rooted mobiles

- Android Central App. Remember courage is contagious.

Lookout works. it found and alerted me to "Secret SMS Replicator" on my phone when i purposely installed it as a test. if someone would surreptitiously install a spy app like this - i would probably never know about it without a scanner app like Lookout. that's enough for me. and the "Find My Phone", "Lock Cam", etc. features are a plus. set it and forget it.
