Ok so I know ( I think ) what i want but I am not sure which new device if any offers it. I'm not completely tech stupid but I certainly don't know near what most of you do.

Here is the list of things I would like to have

--A netflix capable phone (I know it's not out yet but I want the option when it gets here with out having to re upgrade)

--an hdmi out

--a large screen

--a nice camera

-- and preferably a dual core but it does not HAVE to be as long as it is fast.

I do not have 4g available in my area yet so with or with out is fine with me..

Honestly i have no idea what device is the right one for me. I have an original droid and I am really ready to upgrade. I don't mind to wait for a couple months but I am hoping for something before June.

The phone you are looking for is the LG revolution and it is a 4G lte phone. It has a 4.3 inch screen, front camera, 5mp rear and hdmi out. It was one of the phones on display at mobile world congress with Netflix onboard.

I like the way revolution looks. But is it going to be outdated before it even comes out with a single core processor? I was also watching the hands on video and the guy said 512 but im seeing other specs as 1ghz ?

It most likely is 1ghz for the processor and 512 for the RAM. You are right though because once it is released the bionic will have a leg up with a dual core and it will have a 4.3in screen but i doubt netflix will be available for awhile for motorola just because of the chip set they use

Greetings to a fellow Indiana AC user ;)! Sorry about the image that was the first thing that came to my mind when you said What Do I Want haha...

Sounds to me like the Bionic is right up your alley. Being dual core should future proof the phone somewhat until the quads (LOL QUADE?) shows up. I think its well worth the wait, and what I will be holding out for.

Ok first off that picture is horrifying.. I almost couldn't respond because of it!

Second I love everything about the bionic but I really want a Netflix capable device and I'm worried this isn't going to have it. Are my fears unfounded do you guys think all of the next generation device will be able to use the app without the specific chip set?

I guess I'm just being impatient and should wait and see when it comes out but it's the thought of not waiting long enough to get the right one or waiting forever only to find out that everything can run it thats got me all frustrated..

Ugh..

The Netflix app will probably have minimum requirements (if any), but I think that most phones that are going to be released from here on out will probably meet them. I certainly can't see the Bionic falling short.

Humm I guess I was under the impression that the snapdragon processor was the only one that is going to support the app in the beginning.. something about security issues?
Maybe I am just misinformed or this is old news?

I read somewhere, i cant remember if it was nvidia's website or netflix website, that they was working on getting netflix to nvidia chipsets'.

Some quick questions:

1. assuming you are Verizon Wireless customer? are you willing to change carriers in any event?

2. Do you want Skype on your device?

3. If you dont have 4G yet,, why are you looking to get a 4G phone at this point? Do you have any idea when it will be available?

4. How much memory are you looking for if that is important or not?

5. Are you concerned about battery life?

I have a kid at IU and love visiting him,,, great city and love Lucas Oil Stadium and love St. Elmo's.....

1. assuming you are Verizon Wireless customer? yes
are you willing to change carriers in any event? no

2. Do you want Skype on your device? don't care

3. If you dont have 4G yet,, why are you looking to get a 4G phone at this point? Do you have any idea when it will be available? 2 reasons. We should have 4g within a year possibly two which would be before my contract is up so to me it makes sense. Also when we travel many cities have 4g so why not take advantage of it if the possibility is there?

4. How much memory are you looking for if that is important or not? I like for my phone to be a work horse. I need it to be fast and reliable. I use a scheduling program for work etc. But I do not play a lot of games on my phone so I guess that memory is kind of middle of the road for me.

5. Are you concerned about battery life? Not overly concerned I don't want something that's going to die every 2 hours but I also don't need one thats going to run for 3 days straight with out being plugged in.

I'm not sure if these quotes/links will put your concerns to rest, paladin, but it looks like any Tegra 2 device is getting Netflix's attention when it comes to app development.

"We live to get Netflix on new devices, so the current lack of an Android-generic approach to quickly get to all Android devices is frustrating. But I?m happy to announce we?ll launch select Android devices that will instantly stream from Netflix early next year. We will also continue to work with the Android community, handset manufacturers, carriers, and other service providers to develop a standard, platform-wide solution that allows content providers to deliver their services to all Android-based devices. I?ll keep you updated on our progress." --GREG PETERS

NVIDIA Tegra Super Chip Kicks Up Next Wave of Super Phones - NVIDIA Newsroom
Netflix is using the Tegra 2 development platform to bring the Netflix experience to Android super phones and tablets. We're working closely with NVIDIA to ensure Netflix takes full advantage of Tegra's outstanding acceleration and security capabilities." -- Greg Peters, Vice President, Product Development at Netflix

Whether that includes Motorola or not, as one of those handset manufactures, is the big question. And it seems there's no short supply of misinformation regarding Netflix on Android, so for now this is really all there is to go on.

1. that makes things simple. I have been with Big Red since 1989 - ultimately its about your connection and they have the best connection here in manhattan and surrounding areas.

2. i would have guessed opposite. I do not use Skype currently but a lot of my friends and family do. I can see using it too in the future.

3. makes sense to me if it is that close to role out for you. and if you travel a lot it also makes sense as long as you travel to 4G cities. otherwise wait - i am guessing there will be over half a dozen new Droid devices available by the end of the year,,,

4. so any driod will be good for you memory wise.

5. if you travel, then you want to be more focused on battery life especially with the power hogs driods and 4g and big screens are. the reason i did not get the TBolt was the lack of battery life.

Conclusion: what do you want.... you want what i think is not yet available to you. You will have to wait until the Bionic is released and then i would advise you since time is on your side to wait a bit to make sure its gremlins have been addressed. by then there will be at least one or two more devices and you will have choices - and the longer you wait the closer you will be to the role out of 4G near you.

Thoughts?

Haha my thoughts are relatively simple. I need to learn to be more patient and just wait and see instead of asking people to predict the future for me.
:)
