I agree. I dislike the on screen buttons. I compared it to my S4, and those on screen buttons do take up a lot of space and it's actually smaller than 5.2 inches when you see the space they take up. I think it would have been perfect if LG would have removed the on screen buttons and instead would have used the LG logo as the action home button. Then to the right and left of it, they would have placed the menu and back buttons.

I would imagine HTC, Motorola owners feel the same way since those devices offer on-screen menus also and have smaller displays. Realistically speaking its not a huge amount of real estate taken away for the buttons.

I hate every time I pull up the gallery I can't hide naked pictures of my wife. There's no pass code lock to folders. All anyone have to do is select unhide.

Yes, that's a problem, but I'm fairly certain I can come up with a solution. Just pm me the pictures you're concerned about and I'll work on a lockcode fix or sumthin'.

Funny how I love the buttons. They allow for more customisability, I can change any of the buttons to what I like, where I like, how I like, with root. With hardware buttons, they're permanent.

That I can't use the FM radio on the AT&T model compared to international or sprint.

I'm rooted, so any advice would be great.

You mean FM radio where the DJs talk over the song you want to hear and they play commercials?

g2

Such hatred and lack of respect for another fellow's wishes of FM radio.
Believe it or not some people still like to listen to FM when they are working or walking outside, when they don't want to use up their data or on an expensive plan, rather than carrying two devices they just use phone's FM function. Also there is a whole lot more than just DJs on FM. Have you every heard of NPR? Sports Talk? News Radio? But anyway, just wanted to remind you not to look down to your fellow G2 owner because they wanted FM. If that was not your intention or tone, then maybe I took the sarcasm the wrong way.

I'm not sure what I wrote that would have lead you to believe there was hatred for music-loving entity that is FM. I live for constant commercials and I love when the DJs talk over the songs I want to hear. Who doesn't?

Just my thoughts on the G2 after a month or so of using it, I love it. The specs, the screen, even the UI is no issue as some seem to make out. The only shortcoming is the lack of memory. 16gb is ok, but would have preferred more. Shame no 32gb option in the uk at the time. But I have solved it with a meenova card reader. But of a battery drain when in constant use, but otherwise seamless integration of extra memory. And besides, my old Xperia Arc S only had 1gb internal anyway.

Hate is a strong word, not sure why anyone would 'hate' anything about this phone? I do wonder if some versions of the phone are more limited than others though, my Euro spec D802 seems to have the everything (except 32gb) including that FM radio (I often prefer the taking to the music!)

The battery life on my D800 just confounds me. It just lasts a really long time and the phone is so slim.

the battery life is what puzzles me the most. it's a hit or miss week to week even with carrier iq off and restarts. a few days in a row it sucks and then it's amazing. I know it has potential to be perfect but the att variant is not consistent at all. I can go for 5 hours and only lose 5% or 50% I never know and i can't nail down any particular trend

At its worse it's as good as an above average phone but at its worse it drops like a rock and I can't count on it's battery life performance on days or nights I can't give it a charge.

I have yet to experience anything but great battery life from my G2. It really does confound me. I'm looking forward to comparing the Zero Lemon 9300 mah battery I just received for my Optimus G Pro to the G2. I don?t think the ZL powered G Pro will beat the G2 and its 3K mah battery by as much as one might think.

What I hate the most is now when you type a name in contacts it acts up after it finds a match and then disregards the last one and starts from beginning again.

So when I am typing Barbara if there are less than 6 or so matches it will hide the keyboard but if you keep typing as it disappears it will start a new search with the last letter. This is pretty annoying.

I've always had great batt life. See what the update does for you. Mine has improved from it.

I have no major issues with the battery, never acted weird or unexpected.
Turning it off or keeping it on Carrier IQ did not make any difference.

I love them too. I just wish they'd dissappear like they do when playing games or watching videos.

it amazes me how the software engineers don't think about how this simple thing can go a long way. Even transparency on all and any wallpaper make this phone so much sweeter to look at
