What do you all think?

Case in point, Google has a quad core nexus 4 and a quad core nexus 7 so why on God's green earth would they only make the Nexus 10 a dual core? MAybe I am missing something here and someone can explain the rationalization to me.

God, not another one of these.... more cores =/= better! Thought with a US version of the SGS3 you would at least know that!

International SGS3 had a quad-core Cortex-A9 based processor (Exynos 4412) in it. US version has a dual-core design (Spandragon S4) that isn't a straight copy of Cortex-A9 or Cortex-A15 but something inbetween that Qualcomm designed on their own. Nexus 7 has a quad-core Cortex-A9 design (Tegra 3) and now Nexus 10 has a dual-core Cortex-A15 design (Exynos 5250).

A dual-core design featuring more powerful processors is by no means inherently "worse" than a quad-core design with older, less powerful processors.

God, it's like the people who used to think that clock speed was everything. Now the same people only think # of cores is measure of performance. FFS I could just scream...

I really like the 10 inch form factor, and am considering this as an option to replace my Xoom LTE.

I don't usually post replies in the forums. I am more of a reader to learn about products and opinions, but I have felt this way for years and just have to get it off my chest. I don't understand why all companies will claim to make a kick ass product with next generation specs and then kill it by using a hybrid of next gen specs and old specs. I love android and I currently have a GS3 on Verizon and plan to upgrade to either the Note 2 or the HTC DLX/DNA though I am leaning toward Note 2 since HTC has very drab icons. Case in point, Google has a quad core nexus 4 and a quad core nexus 7 so why on God's green earth would they only make the Nexus 10 a dual core? MAybe I am missing something here and someone can explain the rationalization to me. Samsung already has a Note 10.1 with awesome ram, awesome front facing speakers, and good on board storage, but then they screw it up by not even making the screen full hd at 1920X1080. Then Samsung and google come along and do the exact opposite. They give the Nexus 10 Ipad beating screen resolution (even though that high is only as good as the source) same great memory and front facing speakers but last years processor technology and only a 5 meg camera on back with no flash. Also, if Google doesnt want security issues by having a micro sdxc slot then they have to make their Nexus line come with at least 64gb of built in storage and then preferably a 128gb model. 32 and 64 models have been standard with Apple for years. It's time Android stepped up in this department. Why would you even make a Nexus 4 8gb? The Galaxy Nexus was 32gb so make the Nexus 4 32 or 64. I myself have an Asus tf700t which could be argued to be the best tablet on the market until the Nexus 10 screen resolution comes out. It has a1.6 quad core processor, 8meg cam on back with flash and bsi and wide angle, 2 meg HD cam on front, but then they botch it up by only including 1meg of ram instead of 2 and then putting 2 speakers on the back on top of each other instead of spreading them apart for even sound field. I just don't get it. I feel like I could design a better tablet only because I am an end user and know what consumers are really looking for in High End Devices. I could site tons more examples but I am not writting a book I suppose. Any feedback and/or explanations would be greatly appreciated.

The iPad's dual core :-)
Don't worry, more cores isn't always better. I can assure you that this chip will be very, very fast.

That dual core is an A15 based processors while the N4 and N7 are A9 based. A15's are way more powerful and power efficient than the A9's. A15 is the real next gen, spec wise.

Wow..what a harsh and immature response. Why are you getting so defensive? It's not like I called your mama a bad name back in the fifth grade or are you actually in the 5th grade? I have been reading these forums for years and I decided to post what I did. I asked for clarification on some points if people had any info that I was not aware of. I did not post it to have some troll take my entire post and complain about 1 thing I said. Why don't you take all that built up hostility and actually put it to good use and help people out by answering there questions like an adult.

I think he is just tired of people thinking that about the number of cores. I also think he did quite a good job of explaining about it. Also, suggesting he was a 5th grader wasn't really necessary. He didn't say anything personally offensive to you.

His response was offensive to me. It was more the tone of the response. Everyone is going to read stuff on here that they don't like or that annoys them, but then just don't respond and skip over it. I would rather have someone ignore me if they don't like my thoughts and opinions then to attack them. I have every right to post on here just like everyone else. If this is the wrong forum for my type of post then kindly direct me to where my I should post

Now I think you're the one overreacting. It's great for you to have an opinion and it's your right to express it but I don't think he was attacking you. Also, you claim that the tone of his response was offensive. I don't see how you can be sure about someone's tone from their writing.

Anyway, let's get back on topic :-)

I think they used the exynos processor in the nexus 10 because it was the best processor to power that high res screen.

I've been trying to justify it, but considering my GTab 10.1 is getting a bit dusty now that I have the N7, I've not been able to convince myself to make the purchase.

I'm going to get the N10 to replace my TF101, which is not aging gracefully.

The question is, do I also get an N7 for gaming? (10" tablets aren't comfortable to hold for extended gaming, imo.)

If you are going to do extensive gaming, why not get a BT controller? i would much rather game on a higher res 10" screen than the N7.

I would LOVE to get the N10, but i am currently working to sell my TF300 simply because i don't use it as much as i think i would use a N7. the 10" size is nice, but the 7" form factor is what i really want in a tablet right now.

I've tried to enjoy a BT controller multiple times (On both a 10" tablet and through my phone hooked to a TV.) I always come away more frustrated than just dealing with the frustration of gaming with fingers on a glass screen.

If I'm going to saddle up to the hassle of getting a controller out, I'd just as soon turn on the PS3.

The dual core A15 chip is a FASTER chip than any of the quad core chips out right now. It is the best chip on the market, so they are not using old technology with new. It's all new.

Unfortunately, I think my wife reached her limit on tech gadgets with the Nexus 7 so there is no purchasing a Nexus 10 in my future. Even if I could get it, I don't see why I even had a "need" for it since I have a 11.6 inch netbook, a 7 inch tablet and 4.65 inch smartphone. Doesn't mean I don't want one though!

Depends on how you want to game. For gaming on my Nexus 7 I normally stand it up on a table and use an Xbox 360 controller with Onlive. Makes it a great portablet system if you have a solid surface to put the tablet. Same setup would work for the Nexus 10. If you want to game with on screen controls, I'd have to go with the N7. Its perfect for that.
