What do you Dislike about the GB update

I don't really understand the lag complaints, gingerbread's biggest asset is the performance boost. Go into your browser and watch a video, rotate your phone, double tap to zoom, pinch to zoom; check how the video never pauses. This was touted as a major asset of the Galaxy S2, well we have it now on gingerbread, it couldn't do it on Froyo.

You don't understand the lag complaints because your device isn't lagging, obviously. Trust me, if it were anything like mine and some others', you'd be right here with us complaining about it and trying to find a solution to it. We're not trying to find a solution to an imaginary problem; we're trying to find a solution to a problem that is only on some of our devices after the update to GB, not all, but is still as real as can be.

Not even talking about going as far as watching videos or anything man, we're talking about simply swiping between homescreens lag and choppiness.

How about the fact that I'm LAGGED as hell now, what the bejeezus. Can't swipe between simple homescreens without a 1.5 to 2 second lag...posted about it in the other thread and other people have it too. Ugh. I'm jealous of everyone's "smoothness" they keep talking about. My froyo was smooth - this is choppy chop city. Get me out of this..somebody magically fix my lag please. *begging*:-[

Same here.
Motoblur just sucks!
I am using the launcherpro.

I have always been using LauncherPro, works great.

I don't like how they have changed the Gallery App, you can no longer view images by folder and it wants to pull in a bunch of stuff from social sites, I just want to be able to see all the pictures I have on the phone easily.

I agree! I wish it was a way to disable it. Its like that with music, but I like how it tells you if a band you have on your phone is in town or not!

First thing is, you gotta go into the settings for the Gallery. You can disable all that social site downloading, from there.

Once you've negated all that useless intrusion, your next best move is to get QuickPic, from the Market. It is utterly superior to the stock Gallery App in every way. Dev support is first rate, and he's constantly improving the app. You can organize your pics in any way you like; just full of great functions you cannot have with the stock Gallery app. Make QuickPic your go-to Gallery and you'll never look back!

@jonneh: IMO your best solution, at this point, would be LaucherPro. No lag, and super smooth, from screen to screen.

I also miss my folders in the Gallery. All my videos are mixed in with my pictures now.
Also, don't care for the gallery's home view with all the photos scattered on the screen look (same for the Music).
Will never use the social network stuff...:-\

Do a factory reset and I'm sure your lag issues will be gone. I have zero lag issues so it's probably something you have installed thats causing it.
Get back to us when you're done.

Ok so here are my thoughts about the update. First: I ABSOLUTELY hate the new motoblur, they should've at least left the old version or just load a vanilla android. its awful... the colors the performance everything... Now, I must agree with other posters who complain about laggines. The phone does lag especially (for some strange reason) when I type text. I'm writing this on my PC right now, cuz the phone's keyboard lagged so much I couldnt bear it. I can swipe between homescreens and menus just fine. but in sertain things like text or in phone-dial screen it lags... Another thing I'm not happy with is the battery life. yes, it actually got worse that it was before... before I could go for good 20 hours on a single charge, but now, it's been 7 hours 20 mins and the battery is down to 50% with display use of 2hrs and 22 mins.... this is bad..... Now, I'm running a clean install as I had to reflash back to 1.57 and then do all the OTA updates. so I tend to believe that all these issues people having are mainly because of the crappy/poorly written motoblur which slows down the phone. I noticed that there are few ATT crapware icons that i couldnt remove and are prolly running on a background, and a few other services that possibly consume the battery resources. The overall performance of the phone had somewhat degraded as compared to the previous Froyo build which was running smoothly. (at least on my phone) I am also dissapointed with copy/paste function which I was looking forward to in GB update. it is very poorly executed... I'm running Launcher Pro right now which makes things and the GUI a lot more friendlier than the motoblur s$%t. I'm very upset with Motorola. they've butchered 2.3.4 as much as they could. I think this will be my last motorola device.

oh and forgot to say about battery monitor. who's stupid idea it was to remove the battery percentage from the statistics screen....

Motorola has an obsession to cover up every feature of Android OS with their own heavy-handed UI. What a shame to take such a nice piece of hardware and weigh it down, as they have.

yes I absolutely agree. The bad part is you can not even costumize it at all, like you would in launcher pro or ADW... you stuck with this crap..
. I prolly should check out Nexus S at best buy and maybe sell Atrix and get that phone... at least I'll have vanilla android and timely updates with it... (although i'm not particulary fond of SAmoled+ display)

I'm pretty sure this is my last moto product for awhile too. But I was thinking that even before this software update due to the constant issues I've experienced with this phone. (I've talked about them plenty of times in threads here). Back to the software update, as of now my lagginess is kind of sporadic; it is there sometimes when I unlock the phone, and other times when it's unlocked it's almost instant. It seems to have issues with widgets a lot. I experimented with removing a couple photo widgets on just ONE homescreen and the lag immediately lessened. The simple standard photo widget. Added them back and lag increased again. I like some things about the update, but some things Moto did to GB just don't make sense to me in the least. For one, who in the world would think removing the battery % would be a GOOD idea? I can't even think of any reason it would need to be removed, other than to upset users. Also, I kinda wish my notification panel were black instead of this navy blue, but I'm getting used to it now and I don't mind it as much. It's more unique, maybe that's why.
It's too bad my contract doesn't expire until like 2013 now since I upgraded to this phone.
I am thinking my next phone would be a straight-from Google one, however, I'm not too into the Nexus S unfortunately. I feel like it's missing a lot of features I want in a phone. :-\ Hopefully the next Nexus is more my style.

I have only 4 widgets on my LP screens as I try to keep things clean. But the more complaints I read about update I am most certain it is the motoblur s%&t slowing down the phone.. I really like the qHD displays so thats prolly the only thing that may stop me from getting anything samsung made.. I should try and get titanium backup and freeze some crapware but I need to be rooted for that I suppose and I dont want to do that... what a disappointment... the whole purpose of GB was to improve the overall performance and it did just the opposite...

I dont see myself sticking with ATT period.
I was in downtown CHICAGO, and having signal problems.

What the hell, how do I get signal problems in on the largest urban areas in the US?

Use multi select to create albums then when you go to your library click in the top right and select albums and then from now on your gallery will open up to the albums(folders) you created.

Actually, the gallery app on this phone has more functions than just viewing photos. You can't even listen to your music player continuously, if your gallery app gets shutdown in background.

Oh yeah, i use SPB Shell and Go Launcher, they are both very smooth.
