What do you want to see in Pixel 2017

I'm with you on this Impulses. Phones are now so good that, since getting my Pixel, I have no desire to upgrade every 6 months anymore.

I kept my 5X for a year and almost didn't upgrade from that. Apart from my periodic indecision about which phone size to carry (I always come back to 5" territory) I can see the Pixel will be a keeper for a long time to come.

I want to see Google have plenty of stock at launch so there isn't another debacle like this launch. Also want to see google hire a better company to do the logistics side of things

I would personally like a bigger chin since my fat fingers require more space to hold the phone

Jk. Less chin, 64gb version, and waterproof. I don't care so much about SD Card support.
The glass has grown on me but I'd prefer a solid back metal phone and a truly truly black version like the Note7 or Iphone 7.

It's so funny how nobody cared about water resistance until Samsung and apple started calling it a feature...now the pixel is inferior for not having something that most people will never need.
Agree. Back when I had the Xperia z and z1 and touted the IP ratings my uncle would scoff. Now he says if the pixel had ip68 he wouldn't hesitate to get it lol

I can put this into two categories. What I want and what I think it needs.

I want :
• AMP and better DAC
• Front facing speakers
• Acrylic instead of metal
• Start at 64 GB
•Better screen to body ratio
•Increase screen on time

What is needed
•Latest Processor
• Dual camera
• Water resistance
• "Okay Google", has to step it's game up if it is going to be the outstanding feature.
• A design that is better than the Samsung and Apple.

You do realize Apple has this exact same issue right? With people not getting their iPhone for 2+ months if they didn't pre-order right away?

I get being upset about not getting one but I truly don't understand why everyone thinks Apple somehow is able to get the phone into everyone's hands on release day when that is 110% false.

Defensive much? I never said Apple got the phone into everyone's hands on release day. Fine, let's compare what we know as of right now. Iphone 7 preorders began on Sept 9 and it went on Sale Sept 16. I just went on Apple's website and today (2 months later exactly) you can order the 7 plus in Jet Black or Black, any memory config and they ship in 3-4 weeks. If you need one right now you can pick up a 256 GB black at a local Apple store in Cincy. This is for a SIM free model, I didn't check availability in carrier stores.

Pixel was announced and available for preorder Oct 4 and shipped starting Oct 20. If on December 20 you cannot *order* (they still show as out of stock and you can only get on a wait list) a Pixel from the google website, then it will be a fail.

The longer the phone is unavailable, the older the tech inside it gets, the closer we get to 2017 phone release season, and therefore the less enthusiastic I am about buying this phone. Last night I cancelled my XL32GB order because I don't want to settle for less memory. If it is another month before you can even order the 128GB black model I will probably just wait for the next Galaxy S8 announcement to see what that brings.

I know it's early and some folks are still waiting to get their Pixels, but what the hell!! This is what I would like to see in the next version of the Pixel

- 4K AMOLED Screen for Pixel XL || QHD for Pixel
- Screen Size update: Pixel - 5.2" || Pixel XL - 5.7"
- Storage Options: 64GB || 256GB
- IP68 Dust/Water Resistance
- Better DAC/Amplifier
- Keep the Headphone Jack
- Stereo Speakers
- Use the "Chin" space (Maybe put in a "G" button that can act as a fingerprint sensor/dedicated Google assistant button, this way I can unlock my phone from both sides)
- Camera: Increase pixel size for better low light performance, fix the lens flare problem, dual lens setup for optical zoom or monochrome

A wole hell of a lot more than pixel 2016. It's well built, fast, and tremendous battery life, but really, thats it. That AI isn't panning out to be what Google claimed. It has a very good screen, but not the best, no sd card expansion (apple copycat BS) . So much wasted space for front bezels, ridiculous. Better water & dust resistance, dolby atmos and dac chips. To start with. Oh, and a more realistic price. I find myself using my S7 edge much more than the pixel i thought would replace it. For media listening, i use an axon7. Awesome sound.

What I want and expect for the next Pixel/Pixel XL:

-Upgraded processor
-Water resistance
-Better battery life (not that I'm complaining)
-Better camera with no lenses flare
-Brighter screen
-Smaller chin
-Better supply to meet demand (Nexus 5x and 6p weren't this bad when it came to the launch)

I actually like the way the phone I'd designed from the perspective of not having any camera hump. Samsung, Apple, LG, and others have camera humps. The phone is thicker at the top and thinner at the bottom because of this. At the same time, at least to me, it's not top heavy. Now the glass top portion I can do without but it is different to say the least.

What I am not expecting from the next Pixel/Pixel XL:

-Micro SD card slot (people keep asking for it despite the fact that Google hasn't had one in their phone since the Nexus S back in 2010. It's not happening.)
-Capacitive buttons (again, something that Google hasn't done since the Nexus S)

Something I want that is a toss up for the next Pixel/Pixel XL:

-Stereo front facing speakers
-Wireless charging
-Ambient notifications working consistently
-More accessories available at launch
-Availability to purchase at all US carriers (even though I'm on Verizon I still bought the phone from Google, I want everyone to have financing options that don't involve a credit check and not everyone can pay full price for a phone all at once)
-Headphone jack on the bottom
-Different color options

That's all I can think of at this moment. I'll probably think of other options after I post this. Usually how my mind works.

Easy. Make the bottom of the phone the same thickness as the top and there's now space for a bigger battery. And you get a slightly more bottom-weighted phone in the process.

They could have done that but I like them for not doing it. It's not top heavy so no need for a thick phone.

I agree, it's not top-heavy as-is. But for me, the top part is plenty thin enough and I wouldn't complain about the whole phone being that thickness in exchange for more battery capacity.

Def. not defensive much. I just don't get the whole "To compete with Apple they must get it out instantly" idea when ... Apple has never done that either. So I fail to see how they have to ship right away and can't have a backorder but others can. This doesn't go for Apple or Google specifically .. All phones go on back order if popular enough. Samsungs, LGs, etc.

There is also a difference in the number of units sold. I think Apple could cover the demand that we have for the Pixel/XL, but they struggled to keep up with the higher demand for the 7/7+. Either way it would be nice if they (both) could fix that issue.

I've only come across a few things that could use a change on the 5" pixel: - Move the touch buttons onto the chin below the screen (Samsung-style)- Make the back glass harder to scratch- Make the phone a little more grippy when holding it- Get rid of the taper and make it the same thickness as the top of the phone (would allow for a bigger battery)- A microSD card slot would be niceWaterproofing wouldn't hurt, but to me, it's not a big deal. Wireless charging... meh, I'd probably never use it. Higher res screen wouldn't hurt and neither would camera improvements, but neither is really necessary. The phone camera is just for when I need a picture of something. When I want to take a picture I care about, the DSLR comes out.
This would make me not purchase the phone.

I just want to see my 2016 Pixel XL. Shipping date keeps getting pushed back. However, I would like to see the latest technology built into this phone. It is kinda disappointing that when I think of Google I think of a leader in the tech world and yet the Pixel doesn't even come with the lastest technology. It certainly is not a ground breaking device in the tech world but more of an iPhone clone. So what do I want to see...

AOD
Wireless charging - whether I use it on not
Waterproofing - whether I need it on not
SD card slot

I want Google to step up with a ground breaking device.

I'm sorta surprised to see so many people wanting an SD card slot rather than more internal storage. I think that's an unlikely add because of Google's stance that SD cards are meant for budget devices in developing countries. They're currently trying to put out devices that perform well, are secure and easy for all users to understand. The microSD card slot can ruin all three of those things for them so I'd be shocked if they added it in - but I also wouldn't want them to do so.

Options of lots of internal storage is good, but as an example, if the pixel had an SD slot, I would have bought a 32gb instead of a 128gb and saved the $100. Then if I ended up needing more storage in a year, I could throw a $40 microsd card in, move my less performance critical stuff to it and be good for the rest of the life of the phone. Instead, I'm stuck with the choice of either spending extra money to be sure I've got enough storage or having to replace a phone before I'd otherwise want / need to just because my needs changed and it no longer has enough storage.
