What does the LG G6 need to succeed?

I think it needs to meet the standards to run the google Daydream. I think that will be a big selling point.

At the moment I'm 50 / 50 on modularity. I think it's really cool that you can simply clip on something and add functionality, but I think it's being implemented incorrectly somehow.

Regarding the removable battery. I think if you plan on keeping your device for 3 + years, then it might be a good idea to have a removable one since the battery will most likely die during that time. But if you just keeping it for 2 years.

Having a non-removable one will allow the battery to be a little bigger and give you more juice each day. Which is always a big plus.

A smart phones camera is very very important and I think it any OEM truly nails a camera. People will buy it just for that.

A droid a day keeps the Apple away

Not sure why people keep saying this about a sealed phone allows for a bigger battery because it's been proven to be false so many times.

When the S series had it, the batteries in it were often just as big, or bigger, than sealed phones of the same model year while being just as thin. When Samsung sealed the S6, the battery not only was smaller than the S5 but also smaller than that of the S6.

Sealed phones do NOT mean larger capacity batteries.

I currently own the G5 and love it.
G6 improvements or wishlist items:
Bigger battery
Keep removable battery (fail-safe method to reset a frozen phone)
Add FM radio (I really do like that feature)
Stay away from adding glass to the back.
Ability to remove any bloatware they add.
Improve low light picture taking
Speed up picture taking
Water-resistant (not sure this can be done with removable battery if not then go with water-resistant)
Price below other manufacturer similarly speced phones (to draw new customers)
Sell unlocked version from their website
I would be totally okay with a polycarbonate body rather than metal to reduce cost. Most people put a case on their phone anyway.
Keep 3.5mm headphone jack.

All you have to do to simulate a battery pull is hold the power button about 30 secs if I'm not mistaking.

The number one thing that it needs to succeed is a low price. The overall specs, as reported so far, seem good enough, and I will probably buy this phone. But, it will have last year's processor and will be followed just a few weeks later by the G8 with this year's processor. Now, it is true that most people would not even notice the difference between an 821 and an 835 with the apps that they use, but unfortunately most people will think that they will notice, and will pass on this. Unless it has a price that you can't say no to, as the G8 will probably be up there cost wise.

Most people just see Samsung and iPhones. Most people I talk to don't know LG make phones.

If the leaked images and specs are true, then the only things they need to succeed are competitive pricing and marketing. Trying to be "different" with their G5 didn't work, so they have to make their phones similar to other phones in the market (sealed battery, water proofing, bigger screen).

For me, I personally think they need to look at what made their phones successful in the past and continue to work with those: dual cameras, removable batteries, big screen, slim bezels, fast performance.

I just picked up a V20 on Verizon the other day so I doubt ill be upgrading any time soon but if I were to, it would be to a phone that had just as good if not better battery, no modularity, OLED screen of 5.7" or higher and Snapdragon 835 (although that's not supposed to hit phones till spring)...

Truth is though, I'm very happy with the V20.... There's not much I would change. Plus unless the G6 has a second screen, I doubt I'd give that feature up for any other specs or features. Loving the second screen on my V20!!!

As for better cameras, I don't take that many photos or video w/ my phone... I'm not a photographer and most phone cameras I've had have performed fine for my needs...

So I doubt ill be getting a G6 no matter what, but I always like to hear that new tech is pushing the limits of what's available and creating powerhouse beasts for their customers to choose from. So I hope LG brings their A game with the G6! Can't wait to read about it!!!

😀
I basically agree however if the G6 has 5.7 inch o-led and 3500+maH battery I would go to G6 as ling as it keeps multicolor notifications and ir blaster. There is zero percent chance it will meet these criteria.

Unless my v20 starts developing all sorts of problems I doubt I would ever go back to Samsung. The only thing I miss is the amoled.

Love so many of these options. Especially the removable battery, lack of glass on the back, and yes, a lot of users opt for cases as it is; so not having the most premium quality back build - combined with more incentive to perhaps sell the device at a lower cost - is great, IMO.
