If no Pixel, then what?

Google's hardware is a great fit for my user case, but I was wondering what brand I would be carrying today if Pixels weren't being made?

I think it would be a sammy or the fruit phone, as an immediate choice. Maybe a 1+, but I'd really want a smaller iteration first. Maybe an LG, if I gave it a bit more thought. Moto and Sony are pretty far down the list

I know I would want it to work really well with Google services, with as little detracting from that as possible. I would want easy access to Google Assistant for sure. Like before Pixel, I carried Motorola and Sammy, but they were just basic devices for me. Not really part of a system the way I would've liked, just functional.

I'm honestly not sure how'd I'd handle it, now that I think about it. I mean, could I really consider the fruit like that? Really??

Interested to hear what you would carry daily if they never made Pixels too, tho ...

Well the only other stock Android option is OnePlus 6T in the states. I mean, other than that, unfortunately there's not much else. Every other Android manufacturer has some software skin over Android.

One Plus would come to mind if Google didn't make phones anymore .
Samsung has different approach as I like there own services. And iPhone is very solid pick also with their Eco system.

the phones I always carry
Samsung/Apple/Google/One plus

A good question and certainly no easy answers for me anyway. I've had Samsung previously and did not like the control they exerted over the UI. Heres an app, there's an app everywhere a Sammy app. I have a Samsung tablet atm and find it to be not completely baked and will never buy another Samsung anything.
I have an Iphone 7 and like it fine but do not like the control Apple exerts over their phones so it is only a backup device that also operates my music system. Everyone I know that has an iPhone does not want to be bothered with any customizations and is fine with Apple telling them mostly how to even set up icons on their home screens. So if there were no longer any Google phone options I'd probably jump on Amazon or somewhere and buy up some supply of latest pixels. Nothing else does it for me and everything and I mean everything else is a huge phone.
I recall back in the day when on a GSM network any device world wide would work on my network if it took a sim card. Being on Verizon choices can be a bit more limited. There will always be a device I can settle for if need be even going back to a simple (dumb) type phone would not be off the table. It would be nice to just disconnect from all the BS at some point.

Okay so the only difference for you would be that you carry/shop three brands in stead of four... LoL!

Nailed it, for me. I feel the same about both brands. It would be a tough choice for me really. I'd end up giving it more thought than it probably even would deserve.

Right, me too! So what would you buy if Google never made Pixels?
Yeah, I know right? When I had my older Nexus 6P and I had the horrible bootloop issue with it, I was unfortunately forced into upgrading the same day to the galaxy S8. I really wanted to Pixel 2XL. So, about 2 years later I'm sick and tired of the galaxy phones. Need stock Android back so early. Haha

Unless the government bans all ph ones except Apples, I won't be getting one. I could switch to OnePlus or Xiami. Doesn't Nokia have an Android One now?

Indeed. Matter of fact, the Nokia 7.1 is actually said to be a really great Android One device

LG has made good phones, so has OnePlus - I'd look at the specs for the particular phone first. It would have to be running a Snapdragon 855 if I were buying one now. (Definitely not an Apple - if I received one as a gift I'd put it up for sale without opening it. I have a personal gripe with the company - they cost me huge bucks when they switched to the PowerPC.)

You should give the Nokia 9 a try. Good hardware and 128GB of memory and Android one. The 7.1 has not that power what I prefer.
I'm also thinking about the Nokia 9 but I'm not a friend of that size. I like the size of the Pixel 3 but this year I'm very unhappy with the Pixel line.

Motorola (mostly low end and midrange phones), and Sony offer clean Android phones...with a few of their own customizations but very minimal. I have the Motorola G5+ phone since summer of 2017, moved from a Nexus 5 when it wouldn't boot, and so far I'm OK with it...in the future I'd like to go back to a Pixel phone when prices are more reasonable (10 days ago or so the Pixel 3 was for $600 + tax, but I didn't want to jump in)

Samsung for SURE. And more specifically the Note series. I will probably be back with Note 10 if Pixel 4 doesn't make some progress. Pixel 3 is only camera unfortunately. 4gb of RAM is definitely being felt on my 3 XL.

You know something, my Galaxy s8 has 4 gigs of RAM and I'm barely pushing it. I'm not a huge gamer at all. I have one game on my phone I just do a lot of productivity apps and photography on my phone. The front firing speakers plus the camera plus stop Google experience on the pixel 3XL is exactly what I'm after. Yeah of course, it's not for everyone. However I've always felt like the Galaxy series Samsung phones have been more gimmicky than anything else. they are packed with a ton of features, most of which are not used by most people that buy them unfortunately.

If Pixels were never made, I would probably be carrying a Samsung phone.
