Do you lose any functionality, specifically with the S-Pen, if you use a 3rd party launcher like Nova or Apex??

I'm using nova prime and all I've noticed that I'm missing is a few Samsung widgets.... I have lost no other functionalities whatsoever.... All S Pen features are working without a glitch

What about the hand waving gestures and finger hovering things. Do these touchwiz tricks still work with nova or with the other launchers?

What is the advantage of Nova Launcher? I had Go Launcher with my Thunderbolt & liked that, but TW is better than most stock interfaces

Thank in advance for any info, Cheers, Jon

Yes, they still work. Launchers only change your home screen and what you can do to it. Maybe the one thing that might not work is a long press on an app in the home screen and a wave of the hand over the screen to move the app between pages without having to drag it, but nobody uses that anyway.

The more appropriate question is what do you gain...

I think Touchwiz shows some shortcuts to useful apps in the notification tray when certain things happen (pen removed from silo, headphones attached, etc). These have not shown up since I switched to Nova. I switched a long time ago, so I might be misremembering some details, but I think that's correct.

Well as I never had a Samsung device that is the question - what do I lose running a 3rd party launcher or what do I gain keeping TW?

I just tested air gestures, air view, air command and motions and they all worked fine ... No glitches for me with them on nova

The little pen remove and headphone symbols that show up in notification bar are also all working for me

I meant something else. I seem to remember that a row of application shortcuts would appear in the Notification tray. Not a single icon, but a whole line of icons.

I use nova mostly for added customization, for example here's a pic of my current home screen .... With nova I was able to Hide notification bar, Set a double tap gesture to toggle the notification bar, change my homescreen grid to 8 x 6, use a different icon pack and although you can't see it in the pic I can swipe my dock right for another new app dock with other things I use allot set in it...

They still show up in Apex, it's the same if not better than Nova
