What happened to Chrome bookmarks button on home screen?

I have used Chrome since buying my Samsung tablet. Until about two weeks ago, the bookmarks button resided at the bottom of the home screen. Now I have to use at least two more taps to get to my bookmarks. Also, the new tab button has disappeared. What happened to these features? How can I restore them? Why does Google keep dicking with this app?

Annoying isn't it... The three dots up top right corner will pop down with those options in my S7....
