I did part one of the root method way back and never got around to part two since it was too technical for someone like me.

Being that i am "half rooted" i never changed radios or whatever that was, can i just start using OTA updates and be ok? or will my phone brick or something?

dont do the OTA, finish rooting your phone. And install a Rooted version of the newest stock rom.

You can try following the sticky about unrooting and returning to stock, but it's a HUGE PITA!

It's hard to say what will happen if you OTA with where you're at right now.

Just so happens to be my PITA =P

But i can personally attest, that if you rooted correctly, you can unroot without much hassle.

It will be no harder than running the RUU on the already stock phone.

I'm tempted to unroot my EVO to get the update when it drops.

Yeah.... I'm not a huge Sense fan... I liked it before I knew better... LOL

Once I noticed the slow down that everyone talked about in Sense. After experiencing it I have not looked back.

i am one of those people who kinda likes some aspects of Sense. i really like the sense calendar widget. i like to see the whole month on my homescreen. i liked the dialer and how you can search by name or number at the same time. as well as several other aspects in sense. now that being said, for me there is a noticeable difference in speed without having sense installed, so even though i am excited about this update, i think i will just wait until cyanogen gets ahold of this to fix the 4G and other couple of small issues for his next RC and just update then.
