Ok, so I rooted my TB, then installed the Cynogen mod 7.1.0 RC 1 Thunderbolt KANG build GRJ22. It has been working fine except navigation doesn't work and I only have 1-2 bars of 4G at work or home, but before i had 3-4 bars of 4G at work/home. I tried to flash the MR2 radio, but then when i rebooted it was stuck telling me everything wasn't working (sense, etc) and I had to click "force close" or "wait" or it was stuck on the HTC screen. I used ROM manager for all this. I deleted the zip file for MR2 after I flashed it. What did I do wrong?

Can someone point me to somewhere that has very basic instructions, using words like "install" instead of "flash" for the newbies like me. Thanks! '

Also, how do I know what radio I have installed since the current ROM cynogen uses ADW launcher.

Thanks!

First, if you've read anything about CM7 you might have found an issue with GPS in the Navigation app. The only known way to get this to work is to first make a backup of your current ROM, next download and install a Sense Gingerbread ROM (doesn't matter which), once you start it, start the Navigation, get a good GPS lock, then leaving this on, flash back to your backup of CM7... all done and working.

CM7 normally has a lower bar than other ROMs... this is normal. The main thing is the actual signal strength, not the number of bars.

If you have CM7 loaded, it does not have any Sense.

Radio: go to Settings > About phone > look for Baseband version... it should be something like 1.39.00.0627r, but something different since that is what I have and I'm not using MR2.

I am also trying to load the Zeus preview ROM. Which radio does that require?

I don't know that ROM... if it's a Gingerbread ROM then you are just fine... if it's a Froyo ROM then you will need a Froyo Radio.

To add on to this; You said you used ROM Manager for everything. ROM Manager has a tendency of breaking stuff, and you're much better off learning how to use ClockworkMod Recovery (flash that with ROM Manager). YouTube is your friend there! Also, Radio's don't get flashed in ROM Manager or CWM, you flash them in HBOOT, or bootloader. There's a ton of guides out there so I'm not going to repost instructions, but my main advice is just do your research before you do anything. If you're not positive you're doing something correctly, don't do it. :)
EDIT: I highly recommend reading this and this. Also, the ROM you were saying, SkyRaider Zeus, is AWESOME! Using that now, don't think I'm going to switch soon. If you're just starting out, definitely flash it because it's just so stable.

OK....so what finally wound up working with Zeus is the MR2.5 radio. Now I'm back to data & phone. Whew!
