What have I missed about the Epic in the last week?

No more internet in the office, so I haven't been around here much, and with the phone coming out and with the contest, there's too many threads for me to sift through everything.

So because of shipping problems, I'm not getting my Epic until tomorrow at work... what have I missed?

I already read that if my phone's battery life sucks, I need to check the battery-status and if "no cell coverage" is under 50%, switch airplane mode on then off.

I already read that if GPS is having issues, then reboot the phone.

I already knew to turn on Use Wireless Network support for GPS.

What other major things have I missed?

It has been haxxored and ad hoc tethering is a go.

Ok, so no MMS while I'm in Wifi mode, but it'll notify me and I can turn off Wifi, download the MMS, then turn Wifi back on.

Anything else?

My only complaint (aside from the ones you've mentioned) was the bit of wiggle I was getting out of my slider mechanism. That was remedied with the Seido case. Phone has been great to me otherwise.

Not every phone has these issues. My GPS works perfectly, my cell reception is working good under 50% battery life, the battery life is to be expected with a phone this powerful. The evo showed us this when it was released. There are things to combat the battery life like: lower the screen brightness, only turn wifi on when you need it, only turn gps on when you need it (my mom does this but I keep mine on), turn off certain sounds and vibrations when clicking, and keeping 4g off during times when you dont have 4g coverage.

The clicking sounds an vibration on selecting a link or pretty much any selection is cool for a while, but after a day I got to the point where I would rather have battery life over a vibration and clicking sound when making a selection. 4g is a great part of this phone and while Im under the assumption that its a passive search (wake on signal), I could be wrong about that and even the minor power it uses could be conserved. Last night I was getting spotty 4g coverage, which is cool because that means that 4g is coming to my suburb area, so my battery life went down slightly faster due to switching radios. Turing GPS off is a situational thing. I like having it on as I use GPS features rather often, but my mom has GPS in her car so she really doesnt need it on. Wifi off is a no brainer as it constantly is searching for a WAP it will be broadcasting and eating battery life. These things have allowed me to last a full day or sometimes more or less depending on my usage.

Lots of Pre defectors complaining about "no multi-tasking" Other than that. The phone works great with some minor quirks. Work arounds are known. 1 issue I can see for me when I buy a new car is the phonebook isn't sending contacts to the car. It didn't work on my mom's Mini Cooper, but did with the Hero, regardless of what ROM I was using (most current was Froyo, so it wasn't a Sense thing). Hopefully an OTA comes out before I go buy a new car... but that could be sooner than later. I hate my Trailblazer right now (Gas milage and other crap).
