What I think about the V20 coming from a Samsung fan

I've had the v20 for a few weeks now and have adjusted to the screen at this point. I had the Note 7 and S7E prior so the change was noticeable. The only area that I still notice it is when gaming. The AMOLED just pops in that area. In other areas such as browsing, YouTube, pictures, etc. the V20 just looks more natural to me now.

Are you guys using High Contrast mode on the V20? Helps alot. Mostly it just converts all the backgrounds and menus to black, but it sure does look better. Its buried deep in settings under Accessibility then Vision.

I've forgotten about my Note 7(s) I love this phone...

Same here! I liked the Note 7, but quite frankly, I didn't care for the curved screen and I never used the S pen. I thought I would miss LED light notifications (relied heavily on light notifications using Light Flow with all my prior smartphones), but I really like the notification display on the V20. I am actually preferring the V20 notifications over light notifications now. FWIW, I had the S4, Note 4 and Note 7. I also bought the Pixel XL 128 gb, but returned it for the V20 instead.

I came over from a 6Edge Plus.I don't miss it at all. In fact I think the V20 is much faster. The only thing I do miss is that the Samsung theme store is loaded where as the LG there is like 4-6 . My battery life is great. I learned to just keep the signature on the second screen improves battery life a great deal.

So ive been trying to figure out what to do... I have a Note 5 I love it, but the battery is terrible... Ive been thinking about the V20??? I have at&t. I was also thinking about the blue S7 edge, but i had an S7 edge when they first came out its a good phone but i not a fan of the curve... I did love my Note 7 though but the curve on the Note 7 was not as curved :-)

I have an iPhone 7+ and the battery life is night and day. I enjoy both IOS and Android but i enjoy android a little more. I must have the new iPhone every year i guess just to say i had it HAHA.

I can't stand the curve on the s7 edge. I couldn't go back to it now after the note 7. I'm using the v20 and iphone 7 right now. The battery is the only thing that keeps pulling me back to the iphone. The v20 seems to be very smooth and fast to me compared to most of the other android phones I've used this year.

Yes i can get through an entire almost 2 days on my 7+.... My note 5 im down to about 30% by end 6:00 p.m. If the V20 is on par with the Note 5 with battery life i guess i wont try it out...

If you are using Verizon as your carrier with the US996, you will also be missing the Advanced calling features of wifi calling and video calling in addition to the FM radio; something that for a phone touted as optimized for music/media is one of the main reasons I returned both my US996 and my Verizon versions, even though the audio was outstanding, IMO.

What you DO have on the unlocked version, which is also so awesome, is Google In Apps Search Shortcut for searching anything on your phone... try it. I almost kept the phone for that single, wonderful thing. Put it in your second display and use it a couple of times and you'll love it!

I didn't realize how much I missed the S-pen & waterproof of the Samsung, though. Like you, Samsung for years now.

If LG comes out with this phone next year, sticks a stylus on it, makes it waterproof, and negotiates better with Verizon so premium features are not disabled, Samsung might just lose a customer to them... :-)

I miss the music... a lot...

With the US996 on Verizon, can you still use Visual Voice Mail? The Unlocked S7 models had that issue where you got those weird text messages (that are generally intercepted by the Voice Mail app) to let you know you had voice mail instead.

If the Note 5 had microSD support I would have probably got one of those after the Note 7 was recalled.
Instead, I moved to a Blue Coral S7 Edge. While everything on the Note 7 was better, even on Verizon with the nerfed software, it's the closest to the Note 7 experience you can get now. I also picked up a Note 4 on the cheap when the Note 7 was discontinued, a phone I wanted when it was released.

The S7 Edge was my choice because of the Edge screen (Note 7 sold me on those features) and Samsung Pay. The large battery is also a reason that I went with it. I am missing the S-Pen, however. Nougat will generally resolve most of the non-Verizon related issues I have with the phone.

I had a V10 for a while and while it had some great features (the second screen is not a gimmick IMO, it's very useful), the battery was toilet. Kind of like the Note 4, but the fast charging was its saving grace. The V20 seems like a much better version of that phone, with a more "stock" like interface and a slightly larger battery. I might add the US996 to the arsenal when the price goes down. I used it for a short period and I was really impressed -- it's like they corrected most of the problems with the overly-ambitious G5.

Do you still get notifications on second screen with main screen off?

No, it did not appear to be available. but there are Playstore apps that cost about the same per month, but I cannot vouch for how well they work or didn't work.
