It seems to be eating battery lately. Can I turn it off without adverse affects?

I believe it switches automatically between your WiFi and data for the best connection, correct me. Get to it by going to settings>more networks>mobile networks>connections optimizer and uncheck the box to disable, disabled mine, it was so annoying randomly automatically switching networks.

Disabled mine, very annoying. Is there a lot of people that actually use the Connections Optimizer? Is it a Sprint only thing?

I disabled mine..got three wufi's at home ..and couple at work. I want to select a particular wifi.

As others said you can disable it. It's basically sprints way of turning your wifi on hoping your phone will hop to that and not their network.
