what is FROYO????

I am totally new to this whole smartphone thing. I had a Blackberry but my My Touch is much better. I really dont know what makes ANDROID so special, i have no clue what FROYO is.....I would really appreciate if somebody could explain either of these things to me ( Android or FROYO) or direct me to where I could educate myself on these things.....Thanks in advance

Froyo is just a nickname for the firmware update. Just like how BB had OS 3.x and 5.x.
