What is Odin Mode?

My Samsung S6 Edge is dead, waiting on a warranty replacement. But trying to get my photos, etc off the old phone in the meantime. I've got it plugged in to my PC and got it in Odin Mode somehow. Is that good? Bad? Does it matter? So far can't see it on My Computer.

Hello,
Odin mode is considered "download mode" specific to Samsung devices.
Your phone obviously hasn't booted up so it is difficult for the pc to see it.
Try looking at the third post down in this thread to get it to boot back up.
