what is sim toolkit app?

I have an app that just showed up on my phone it is sim toolkit it shows under running apps but not under downloaded and I can't uninstall it.

Hi, welcome to the forums! Which phone do you have? You can find the SIM toolkit in settings - apps - all tab. With this app you can manage your SIM card and contract options. No need to uninstall it.

Welcome to the forums. What phone do you have? Is it a dual SIM model? Where do you see the two copies?

Galaxy S7, settings> applications> applications manager, both are version 6.0.1.

pretty sure it's only a single sim model the sim tray doesn't look like it can hold two sims, just a sim and SD card.

I have 2 of them, one for each sim (dual sim model).
