I have an app in my list (had it before the jelly bean update) of all apps that just has the letters SPG with no icon. It can be disabled but has no other information on it and all the storage and cache amounts say 0.00KB. Does anyone know what this is?

Ok, does anyone else even have this app showing on their phone? If not possibly it is a virus or something. I do have the option to Disable.

Yes, of course I did. Don't you think if I'm smart enough to have this phone and use this site I would do that first? I don't think this is the Starwood Preferred Guest app. I have never been to a Starwood hotel, website or installed their app. I checked my phone and there is no app for it. All I have is SPG in my All Apps list as version 1.0 with a total of 0.00B. There are no icons or any other information. Did you even check your phone to see if you have it in your all apps list? I thought if everyone else has it, then no big deal. If no one else has it I will make sure to disable it because I can't uninstall it

To OP, thanks for bringing this up. I don't recall installing a Starwood app either. Disabled until more is known.

I have that as well. I'm stock with jelly bean. Might be a Samsung thing. I would leave it alone

Com.samsung.spg is a service that is started when you run the included mobile hotspot app. It is the program that says "checking your subscription" just before the hotspot app opens. It just allows your provider to charge you for tethering. Apparently some guys are working on disabling it, but that's for developers only. I would leave it enabled. Hope this clears things up.
