What is the best Facebook alternative?

I like metal a lot but no push notifications so I am using chrome right now, not tried Folio but it does seem to a push (instant) feature so I may try it, would be curious to see how the instant feature hits the battery life though.

First of all I just want to let you know that I searched "best facebook alternatives", "best facebook apps", and some other search strings, and found nothing useful or even recent.

I was sitting on the can last night and my Nexus 9 rebooted. Didn't bother me much as I've had the tablet for a month and that was the first time that happened. I'm at work this morning and installed Folio on my Nexus 6P as an alternative to Facebook. When I tap the icon to open the app - REBOOT!! Then it struck me that I installed Folio on my N9 a couple of days ago - could that be the culprit??!!

So, I am now looking for some other suggestions for Facebook. What are you guys using? Thanks!!

I used Metal but uninstalled it for a reason I can't remember. I downloaded an apk for Facebook Lite since it's not available in the US and it's pretty good.

I have since found the ultimate Facebook replacement tool. I call it a tool because it's a wrapper but it is incredibly lightweight and can do it for all sorts of other apps. Love it!!!! It's Hermit.

I can't remember why I uninstalled Metal but I did after only a few days. I usually am not very picky either. I just use Lite to get notifications and messages and use the mobile site for browsing

Hermit, for me have a big problem, you can't have fixed Facebook status bar

I have been testing Swipe and it seems that Metal is more RAM and battery friendly

+1. I uninstalled the Facebook app a while ago and switched to Swipe. It has been great so far. I might checkout Metal just to compare the two apps.

I tried using Swipe for a while but seems to run slowly on my phone. I am giving Hermit another shot.

I just use the mobile website now. The app is such a battery drainer and I don't see the benefiteof third party apps over the website.
