What is the exception with my phone?

I bought my Galaxy S4 in April I hate it. The phone overheats, the phone is laggy at times, you have to disable the majority of features just to be able to enjoy the phone, and the biggest issue: THE BATTERY IS HORRIBLE. I turn off almost every single feature to where I cannot even enjoy this phone, and yet I still don't make it through the day. The AT&T guy says games can reduce your battery, and I replied "I have tiny games like temple run and I don't use them." Apparently they can still drain my battery, so I have had to delete all of my games to see if it makes a difference. What is the point of a 32gb phone if I can't even put apps on it? I have had power saving mode on for a week and it has yet to make a difference. All of the gestures, the motions, s-voice, location services, everything is off. The only settings I have on is Wi-Fi, Screen Rotating, Mobile Data (I have 4G LTE), and Power Saving. The brightness isn't high, and for the most part my phone is off. I honestly don't even use my phone more than 2 hours a day and when I do, I'm not on youtube or anything, I'm on ESPN Fantasy Football or Chrome 99.99999999% of the time. My phone is a 90 percent right now and it has been in 10 minutes of use with 3 minutes of screen time. That is just unacceptable. I have talked to my friends and my sister who both said their battery is great. Why am I the exception? I went to AT&T store and they gave me a new battery and it doesn't make any difference at all. My iPad 3 which I think has horrible battery blows this phone's battery out of the water, and the iPad has a bigger screen with retina display. What do you think I should do? I want to like this phone but right now it's just horrible.

Could you take a screenshot of the battery usage stats and post it? It would be helpful to go a day after a full charge then take the screenshot when the battery is low to give us a better picture of what's going on.

Other than that, you might want to see if the battery is bad by doing the "spin-test". Remove it and spin it on a flat table. If it spins for a few seconds (like a top) then its bad and consider a replacement. That would help significantly depending on how bad the battery is.

I walked into the electronics store one day and absolutely fell in love with the S4. The screen really stood out and after spending some time with it that day I had to leave the store with one. That is where the love affair ends lol. I too experienced lag which was ultimately resolved by going into the Developer Options and turning animations down and or off however what bothered me most was the overheating. I do not game on my phones, I was doing nothing but light Facebook scrolling and email reading while it was charging and it would overheat and literally tell me it was not going to continue charging due to it being too hot. This happened several times and I ultimately returned it.

Battery life was not great either but outside of the Note series or some of the Motorola phones I have become used to Android phones not having the greatest battery performance.

All in all the S4 LOOKS much better then it performs - based on my personal experience. I know many have it and experience no issues :)

charge your phone to 100%. then don't charge it anymore - use it as nornal and run it down to almost empty and then take screenshots of your battery info screens (the main one and also click on the hours on battery and give us the battery history too). this should help us figure out what's going on.

Thanks for the advice. I did the spin test and it did not spin very much so that battery must be good. I will post a picture tomorrow after it gets low. Thanks!

remember that the battery % is not 100% accurate - especially for the top 10% of the capacity of the phone. it's not a true linear representation - only an estimate. and most phones stop charging the battery before it hits 100% in order not to damage the battery due to overcharging.

True, however the phone has died multiple times and it was quick.

This really sounds like a corrupt or rogue app. A factory reset should solve the issue. If not, get a warranty replacement.

WTF you got 13.5 hours of use out of the battery and still have 13% battery left? WTF do you want?

I could not get 24hrs out of a charge with little use. Most days it was 13-15 hrs of batt life, for me this is unacceptable. I could get almost 2 days with my iphone with the same use. Save your comments about the iphone... I just bought a Hyperion 5200 mah Samsung Galaxy S4 Extended Battery and I'm getting over 2 days now and I'm loving the S4 again. I still shut off most everything on the phone... I find google service to be a battery hog. I shut them off in the app manager and I disabled a ton of apps I don't use.
