What is the hole on the top right of the battery cover?

I noticed this a few days ago and the internet has failed to aid me as to what this is. If you flip the phone over and look up and to the right from the camera at the edge where the battery cover joins the main body, there appears to be a hole there. And it can't possibly be a defect because my case has the same hole as well! Does anybody know what this is or what it's used for? Just curious. I'll also try to upload pics of the cover if i can; can't take a picture of the phone with my phone as it's the only camera I have right now :S
