Wondering what the latest recovery is for the optimus v? I'm coming from the optimus s and my optimus v will be here in a few days decided to do research before I got the phone. And also what would be the best way to install the recovery. Any help would be greatful.

Are you comfortable doing adb commands?
If so then do it that way.
Pretty much the same stuff for the V as was for the S.

I dont like promoting the do it for you programs like rom tools but it is a good programs. Just takes the bite out that would normally deter somebody that really shuldnt be rooting flashing a android device.

I used Adb to root my s. I feel more comfortable doin it that way. Is there a guide for custom recovery using Adb? And what recovery would be the best that works with multiple roms? I have the latest xionia for the s and I like it. I read that s roms work on the v. Does the s recovery also work? If so can I just use the guide for s recovery install?

Some ROMs require you to use a particular recovery, due to scripting changes.

Best bet is anytime you flash a new ROM, flash the recovery posted with it, or follow the dev's instructions.

Isn't there one recovery that works for multiple roms?

i think it depends on what scripting languages the ROM requires... there's an older method, and a newer method. i initially had clockworkmod recovery installed on my V, and i guess it only supports the newer method... i tried to install Aphrodite but couldn't because it uses the older scripting method, so i went with CWMA recovery instead.

I'm not sure what romim going to use so I guess I need to decide on that before I do a recovery. I was thinking of using AOSP rom that's what I run on my optimus s. But I will try others is Aphrodite a good fast and stable rom? And what recovery would I use for Aosp?

check the thread for aosp, i think they recommend a certain one. i would go with whatever they recommend.

yea, i'm loving Aphrodite... i installed the 1.3.3 version, it's pretty much stock, but with he Xionia kernel, so it's overclockable. it is very fast, has excellent battery life, and in my opinion, more stable the the stock VM ROM... i haven't had a single FC since i flashed this ROM. plus, it comes with all the VM crapware stripped out, so you have a lot of space in memory to work with. by far my fav ROM so far!!

When my optimus v gets here ill check out Aphrodite ill do some reading on that rom and see if its what I'm looking for.
