You guys (and gals?) are using your Tab for? I'm asking because I'm trying to justify keeping mine actually. I have a Desktop, Laptop, e-reader and an Evo, and I don't think I'm using the tab to its fullest. I like it, and if I didn't have 2 computers too, I could definitely see the niche. I've never in my life bought something I couldn't justify completely (even with weird logic) until now. It does make one hella e-reader though!

It has for most intensive purposes replaced my laptop.

I use it a to for reading scientific papers, textbooks, I listen to most of my music on it, the games are very fun, and occasionally making some documents for school.

I am in the same boat as you with all if the gadgets, except no ereader.

atm since im not in wifi range its only the games i downloaded when i set it up. but im hoping to use it alot more around the house when i get back in wifi. right now im running off my bridged playbook.

Ive got a laptop an archos 70 and and Evo - the archos was a great tablet for reading, but I had to hack around to get it to do everything I wanted, and my wife started reading more epubs and found that the local library will let you download right through aldiko which is great.

I use my tab for email, news reading and as an ereader. I have a few games that I play after our son is in bed, but not that often. Im planning on getting a Bluetooth keyboard eventually and then Im planning on leaving the laptop at home at least a few days a week.

PDFs and Epubs look great on the tab.

Yes, all books look fantastic on the tab. I use my phone for email, and for the forums unless I'm on my laptop. Decisions, decisions...

My laptop "blew up" a few months ago. I mainly use my desktop computer at home, but like having something portable too. I considered an iPad, but I'm really not a fan of Apple...once I heard about the galaxy 10.1, I figured id give it a shot as a replacement for my laptop. I'm happy with it so far.

i use mine for browsing, gaming, reading, news and forums. I don't regularly use a PC for anything as its not needed for my occupation. More of a toy for me than anything else

Same here. Its pretty much replaced my laptop. I have yet to find a reason to turn my laptop on.

Well, I tried it and tried to like it, but there are several things that have me taking it back. Can't move files from within, if it says you don't have a program for a specific file you email yourself you can't even download it, browser crashing, tab locking up, wallpapers have to be cropped, etc. Too much is controlled unless you root the hell out of it. I can seriously do more with my Evo! Plus I have two puters and an Ereader. I'll sure miss that screen though. Maybe I'll get another one someday, but for now, its just not for me. Hope nobody gets offended if I continue to post in this forum...I'm interested in how things evolve.

You can do this if you install the Astro File Manager app (or possibly another file manager). Between Astro and the Dropbox app, I'm able to do pretty much whatever I need to do, between moving files around and uploading/downloading files between my tab and computer with relative ease.

It sounds like you may have no need for a tablet, that's up to you...I'm not gonna try to talk you into it. For me, it's a great portable device with nearly fully functional web browser. If I need a computer, I have one, but I find the tablet quite convenient and I'm quite satisfied with my purchase so far.

I agree that Android as a whole could stand to allow a little more flexibility as far what they lock down to root access only, but none the less it's still a very functional device. I have an HTC thunderbolt which I have rooted, but I'm not even sure that for what I need it for, I'm that worried about gaining root access to my Galaxy tab.

Yeah, I'm thinking I just don't need it. I keep running to my laptop to do things. I can move files no problem but it won't allow me to pick where I want to put them. If I upload to dropbox, it downloads back to where it came from. I created a my documents folder and can only put stuff in there via computer and cable, but honeycomb won't even go there looking for them. I'm going to look at other ones tomorrow, but may get a new CPU for my desktop...I bought it hoping it would be a little more portable, and just as powerful as my laptop. I love the screen, but it's not even close to challenging the functionality of a laptop...yet. I am going to look at the 7" tabs tomorrow though...I like the flyer, but if it is anything like my current one, no way. Just the browser crashes and locking up now and again are serious no-go's.

Honestly im a huge gamer and tegra 2 is amazing for that + the screen is stunning. The fact that u can hdmi out to ur flatscreen withput losing any fps is pretty awesome. My laptop and desktop run ****ty and laggy when connected to a flatscreen tv. Id get rid of my PCs before this tablet. Good luck in ur decision making!

For downloading attachments, I'd suggest the app 'Download All Files'. It will allow you to choose your destination of where you would like for the attachment to be placed.
For dropbox, you should navigate to the folder of where you would like to upload the file. Then go through the upload process.
Also check out ES File Explorer. It has a dropbox plugin. Has more editing features than the official dropbox app.

Don't get me wrong.,.The ****ing SCREEN is AWESOME!!! When I took it back I looked at the flyer, but since I have a laptop AND a separate ereader I just don't have a need for one. If I was lacking both, I'd definitely have a tab as the battery life smokes my laptop, yet lags way behind an ereader since they use so little power and don't do anything really.

I asked the girl at the return counter if she'd seen any of the 10.1's returned yet, and she said "it's the most returned item we currently have". They don't even have them on display anymore. I realize it's new and will have a bug or two...Those sticking with them will see Samsung release fixes and between you guys and gals and XDA all issues will surely be figured and addressed. I AM NOT dogging on anybody who owns one, or the tablet itself. I liked it a lot. I just didn't like it enough with all my other gear. I may buy another one in the future too.
