i sent it for 4 repairs. i thought that they fixed the random reboot issue. but it is starting again. it rebooted itself on 4/14, 4/23, then today again. and a few more before 4/14

someone on here told me that some apps might cause the reboot.

i felt like a rape victim, i don't know if it is due the apps that i installed or the tablet itself? they told me that they changed the motherboard and the battery. what else can cause the problem, if they already changed those things.

i seem to have similar problems like last time, some of the pics in download folder became all gray, the screen flashed a little, and the camera button sometimes become unpressable.

Well at least they did SOMETHING for your tablet, I sent mine in and they couldn't even replicate the problem. This is absolutely ridiculous, how can some tablets randomly reboot when others don't, especially if they're running the same software??

It must be some sort of glitch in the OS itself that is only triggered when certain conditions are met. I can only hope that Android 4.4.3 fixes the issue, because if it doesn't, I'll have to buy a new tablet.

It's too bad they haven't implemented a Voting capability in the forums so that questions like this could be answered without having to sift through comments.

Anyway, FWIW, haven't seen a random reboot on my refurbished 16GB Nexus 7 (2013) running 4.4.2.

I've had a few (3, I think) since January. I bought the tablet early in December. Actually, now that I think about it, I haven't had reboots. I've had random shutdowns. Each happened while the tab was in magnet-induced sleep. And, each time, I wasn't sure it would reboot--took several tries each time.

FWIW, Nexus 7 (2013) 32GB 4.4.2, in 9 months of constant use I've never experienced a random reboot.

Sent from my 2nd Generation Nexus 7.

I have never experience a unplanned reboot. I only have a dozen or so apps and only use a few of them (mail, youtube, browser, twit, and Android Central) with any regularity. However, I do test out apps that me and my team write.

Well as of late, most of my random reboots have been happening in Chrome, in fact I can't think of an instance where it randomly rebooted when I was in a third party app. It's either been Youtube, Chrome, the "desktop", the settings menus, or when it was sleeping that caused it to reboot. I mean I got a reboot the second day of owning it when I barely had anything installed so it's pretty evident something was flawed from the start.

I have gotten a random reboot only once in 4 months or so of owning the nexus 7, and it was while using the camera app.

So far.. So good...

My wife has a Nexus 7.. Never had a random reboot in five months of ownership.
I have a Nexus 7.. One random reboot a week ago after five months of ownership. I think I had a Bluetooth issue.
My mother-in-law had a random reboot on day one, but that was the dreaded Chrome bug that was fixed quickly. Not a single reboot in the almost four months since then.

I hoped I did not tempt my fate with the tech gods.

i have done plenty of factory reset during the last 4 times.

i just talked to asus people online again. right after i got the rma code. the tablet restarted itself again! so it restarted twice in one day. And it restarted one day before that.

this is also strange that after the 4th repair, i got a new series number! and the stranger part is that the case is still the same old case! and i chatted with them online, the tech support told me that they will let me know why i got a new serial number a few weeks ago. today when i talked to the tech again, s/he told me that there was no progress on my question.

I've had mine for 65 days and it has reboot 42 times. Most of the time it reboots while it is asleep. I notice because it is sitting there quietly and then suddenly it has the google logo on the screen. Or I turn it on and it is back at the desktop, not in whatever app I was using before.

Mine started rebooting like this on the very first day, before I put any software (except the updates that it downloaded automatically, including KitKat) on it. It rebooted twice the first day, and once on the second day. I did some reading and discovered people had this reboot problem and suggested Reboot Logger to keep track of them. That was my first app download, and I did it on the third day.

Since it was not rebooting while I was actually using it (I think it has only done that once), I decided it wasn't worth the hassle of returning the unit and getting another one.

As I said, most of my reboots happen when it is asleep. I wonder how many people actually do have this problem, but just don't know it because they don't see it happen.

FWIW, mine is the 16 GB wifi only model, purchased in Feb. 2014, but made in July 2013 (according to the box).

oh. i have sent it for 4 repairs, so i don't know what is what any more. i think that during the 3rd repair, they fixed the random reboot, but after 4th repair. it is back again.

yes, reboot logger helps greatly. this tablet has rebooted itself while i was using it.

mine doesn't reboot as frequently as you. i think that before the 2nd repair, it rebooted almost daily.

if you bought it at a store, i think that it is best that you return it and get a new one. i bought it online, so i have sent it to asus 4 times.

but now i still don't know what is causing the rebooting problems, i don't know if it is due to the hardware or the software itself. if it is due the apps, then there is no use to send it back for repair again.

asus people don't know what is causing the reboot , either. they just ask me to send it back for repair all the time.
