Welcome to Android Central! Which tablet? It's probably a mic opening, but if it's an older cheapo tablet, it might also be a reset button.

If the hole is located next to the SD card slot, it might be for the manual/emergency eject.

What is the PIN sized hole on an Android tablet

tell what tablet and we will be able to tell you exactly what it is for, otherwise, it could be a speaker, sims tray, microsd card tray, reset, or something else.
