clear data messages not coming back

Why do you clear data for ? Some time of issue?

What I would try next is to keep the new version manual back it up and let the device also back it up automatically for a week and see if the same. Honestly though you shouldn't need to clear data as that resets the whole app every time until syncing kicks in .

I recently discovered that my Android Messages app (version: messages.android_202601260_00_RCO0.phone_dynamic, updated on Feb 2,2026) on my Redmi Note 10 Pro (MK2101K6G, Android 13) that messages have not be coming back after i go to app info - clear data - clear all data. i have been using version: messages.android_20221101_01_RCO1.phone_dynamic and my messages appear when I clear all data is there a bug at the moment in the new version or any fix as to why this is happening

i only clear data for more space also can you explain it to me better i understand about using the new version just not the manual back up and automatically back up for a week bit

must be Google messages then because every other message app shows the messages after I clear data

it now just shows new messages not old messages that are stored for some reason on the new version

how come Google backup only shows 37kb for sms mms messages on

I don't know what else to do think I am going to wait until a fix or someone can help me

sms backup shows duplicate messages even though they don't show on Google messages on new update after clearing data so i don't know why Google messages are not showing up after I clear data on the new updates strange

Sorry was busy at work today

So Google automatically backs up the Data in messages or you can manually back up with Google, I would wait few days let some time pass and see what happens your really not supposed to clear that data often only glitches . Things need to settle in .

After that If still giving an issue you might have to do something with your storage or delete some messages.

I have a Xiaomi on Android 12, and just now looking at my Google Messages - Settings I did have RCS Chat turned off which I did some months ago.
I only mention it because when turning it on again now it starts to verufy your phone number - only it is presumably verifying the number originally embedded in the sim before I ported my number over.
15 minutes later it is still trying to verify my actual phone number I input, which Google knows anyway!

Worth a look see, FWIW.
