What is the System updates app?

"System updates" app

I have recently located a strange app named "System updates" under the "ALL" menu. This app is different from "Software Update" app. I am suspicious of "System updates" app because it is strangely named ... unlike other apps, its second word is not capitalized. Besides, it is given a large number of permissions.

Could you please tell me if anyone else has this app on their devices or is it a malware ?

It depends on the phone, but it's most likely the app that gets Android updates. So if you're on KitKat and Lollipop is issued for your phone, that's the app that would handle the update. (It's also the one you disable if you don't want Lollipop.)

Software Update would handle updates to individual apps.
