What is this faint purple smear on my phone?

Hi. I have a Moto X Pure Edition and recently I have noticed a very faint purplish smear on the display. The only way I see it is in a black background. I was wondering why it is there and how do I fix it. Thanks!

You LCD may be fading away...
Dial *#*#0*#*#*to test the LCD

Sounds like the LCD panel is failing, very unusual but it can happen.

Was the screen pressed down hard in that area?
