thanks you are correct. Looks like it's an Icon i'm stuck with too. Boo! I understand there are things that have to be running in the background. but what is the point of the icon if we can't disable it?

fine keep it running but get rid of the icon or give me the icon with the ability of disabling it.

Could be that you have an application that is attempting to use the GPS location services but since you have it turned off its still not doing anything.

You cannot turn off E911 services.
