What is this new icon on top of my homescreen after update?

Yesterday, I did the Verizon update. Then I noticed a new icon at the top of my homescreen that I've never seen before.
Anyone know what it is? I attached a picture with a red arrow pointing to the new icon.

Thanks, Casey

It's part of the eye tracking features of the note 2. That's just showing you it's enabled.

Thanks for your reply. You mean eye tracking similar (or same) as the feature on the new Samsung S4 ?

It's Smart Stay, found under Settings/Display/Smart Stay

Oh cool, thanks. I also now notice the "Smart rotation" function, which I don't know if this is also part of the update. I just now checked the box to activate Smart rotation, let's see if I like it or not.

The "eye" has always been used. Before 4.1.2 it just popped up just before screen time out to see if you are looking at it. Now it's permanent and very annoying.

Yeah, I agree. I rather not have this icon either, especially if it's just always there on top of the screen.

I see it occasionally on my GS3.

Is this only on the Verizon Note 2? Is this a Verizon idea or a samsung idea?

It's from Samsung and is not specific to the Verizon version. A search for "Smart Stay" in the general Samsung Galaxy Note 2 forum indicates other carrier versions of the Note 2 have the persistent eye icon (if Smart Rotation or Stay are enabled) after getting the 4.1.2 update. :)

what is the symbol to the right of the one you asked for?

Location services. If you have the " )))" that indicates that you have enabled one or more options (gps, Verizon, and or Google)
