What is up with the front touch buttons

Anyone notice when the keyboard is in use, there is arrows on both sides of the front touch buttons but don't do anything....

They are forward and back buttons for the browser i think. I saw it on a video, but I use swype keyboard so I cant remember.

But they only show up when you are about to type

Actually they move the cursor. Try typing a word and then hitting the left arrow... the cursor will move back. Makes it easier to correct typos.
