What is wrong with my phone? Should I call Asurion Insurance or just get a new phone?

I have an HTC Desire 530 with Metro PCS. It turns off and reboots randomly when it reaches 30-40% battery life. It then shuts off a couple times within that time. Sometimes it will turn back on and say 1% Battery life, then back to 30 or 40. Until I plug it in with the charger will it stop acting up. It has been happening the past month or so. What to do?
