What is your free memory like?

not sure why mine isn't doing it, just shows four selections, battery, performance mode, storage and memory.....no buttons or round circle like the above at all

Are you on Verizon by any chance? Verizon has stripped it down quite a bit and drastically limited the functionality of device maintenance.

If you are concerned about apps running in the background, then put it to sleep. Putting it to sleep will stop the apps running in the background but won't unload them from memory. To be honest .. I have no clue. Android handles RAM fine so I never worry about what is free and what isn't.
