These benchmarks are pretty pointless . How many of us can tell a difference with the naked eye between the top device and the last one?

Also depends on how you have things set up.

I honestly gave up on benchmarks 2 years ago. Makes decent reading material, but it's pretty much pointless. Russell just posted a solid article this afternoon about how they're easily manipulated and never reflect real world usage. Personally I'd rather read reviews/comments and test the phone myself. Even side by side photographs don't always illustrate the better camera, especially these days with premium phones, when it's more about the photographer than the actual camera.

I have a 27 month old original Moto X that I had before this nexus 6p. In the day to day use I really see no difference between the two. Web pages launch a little faster and apps launch a little faster in some cases on the Nexus. But, it's not that big of a difference really. And look at the difference in specs between the two. The Nexus 6 P blows the Moto X out of the water in bench marks, but in real world use they are very similar.

I agree. My Nexus 6 is way down the list, but if you were to use it, you wouldn't say it's slow. Especially unencrypted and running custom rom/kernel. Benchmarks mean very little in the real world. I know when I'm using a fast phone or a slow phone. I don't need any stinking benchmark app to tell me what works well.

But no disrespect to the OP. Someone had to start a thread like this. People didn't need benchmarks to validate the fact that the 6P is fast. You already knew that. For that matter, the original N5 is still pretty fast in real world usage. But benchmarks would say otherwise.

It's almost funny that no one has responded the way the OP intended. I hope we didn't scare him away, seeing it was his first post. Welcome to android central! We are really a good bunch here, don't be put off by some of the responses. We're just trying to be real.

lol, on the app so didn't realize it was dude's first post ... i think especially the Nexus crowd cares very little about benchmarks. they make for a decent article and some back and forth maybe, but at the end of the day they're pointless.

to the OP: Don't let my response scare you away.I didn't mean it as dismissive or harsh.

Please keep posting.

yeah hopefully we didn't scare him off. like other poster said, we do our best to provide honest feedback, however harsh it might come across. end of the day we're just talking phones, completely irrelevant in the real world so don't let it bother you! most of us care more about people than phones so keep posting!

Benchmarks for PC components can be useful. Benchmarks for phones that will almost never actually be pushed to their limit are pretty pointless.

Let's be honest: how many people play "high-end" games on their phones, or use their phones to do ridiculously complicated math? (Tipping is not complicated ;))

To answer the OP's question, I get similar numbers on mine (a smidge over 93K). I am guessing you are mostly stock, unencrypted? That looks about right. The storage I/O scores when the default encryption enabled lead to somewhat muted I/O numbers in those benchmarks, which is why the 6P is down the list a bit. Doesn't make the encrypted phone slow, by any means, but makes for bragging rights in some circles.

did you remove the encryption as well? whats the score with encryption On?

I know google made encrypted read/write better but wanted to know how much better

Never scored out with encryption. I unlocked and had it rooted almost as soon as I powered it up the first time.

I haven't run benchmarks since the note 3 really. Don't need to anymore

benchmarks are absolutely pointless, they put artificial load on the CPU and the GPU, real-world apps don't put anywhere close the strain "Antutu" et others do. Want to "benchmark" a phone ? grab one and spend a week with it doing your average, regular stuff... then grab another and repeat, which one was better and why ? battery ? voice quality ? comfort ? multimedia ? responsiveness (snappy?) ? connection ? that's the only benchmark you need. In the eyes of some users a super Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ could be a power house, in the eyes of others which rely on battery life they might be awful, best benchmark is the usability you get from the device.
