What makes Android phones do this?

So I have a Samsung Fascinate and I really like this phone. I have not used an Android phone since June when I picked up an iPhone 4. The one thing that is freaking me out is I have something that happens that I can not duplicate. So I am setting up my Fascinate making it look and feel how I like it. I notice a widget I thought was cool and new. It was a widget for the market place, also in the market I had the ability to update all apps and check the box for auto updates. So I go from a black Fascinate to a white Fascinate and none of those options are available any more. Neither phone have been rooted and both phone are brand new running identical firmware.

Now this has happened to me before last year when I had my Motorola Droid, it did a feature that was not available at the time in 2.1. I went from a Motorola Droid to another and it downloaded all 39 apps for me automatically but did it that one time and never again.

This could be the most vague question ever on these forums. LOL.

Are you saying that when you went from one droid to another (in the past), you had every item you had ever downloaded, available when you went to the "downloads" section of the market? (you know, the place where it stores all of your purchases)

If yes, that's a first because each time I switch from phone to phone, I get a select few (maybe 50%) of my apps there (usually the ones I paid for), but the rest I have to manually search for. This is with 2.1 and 2.2...so that hasn't made a difference.

ha ha let me ask the simple question. What is causing my Android phones to show signs of features they should not have until future updates? Like I would love to have the update all feature back on my new phone. I have not wiped my old Fascinate so I guess I can post pics of whats going on.

I think he is saying he no longer has the feature to auto update the apps. That's a feature that came out with 2.2 and the Market. A few weeks ago however, an update to the Market was pushed for users on 2.1 as well. Sounds like his new white Fascinate doesn't have the Market update.

oh so that's what's going on. I guess if I was into Androids like I used to be I would have known this. Thanks for the answer, I just thought it was weird that once in a while I was see a feature that was not supported happen on my handsets.

I"m wondering why you don't have the Market update though. I know there was a thread on it a week or so ago, let me look for it...

Yeah, sounds like he just doesn't have the updated market yet. Weird though.

I have not gotten the market update either, no matter how many times i try to force it. Haven't gotten around to manually installing the .sdk
