What makes the Galaxy Nexus have an HD screen?

yea.. wallpapers are usually larger to allow for wallpaper scrolling between multiple home screens.

What is the exact resolution for wallpaper scrolling? Looking to find some of them.

For some reason I find 1920x1200 resolution wallpapers always have crisper details.. probably overkilling it but I took some of my computer wallpapers and applied them and they look better than the regular res wallpapers..

Does it still scroll though after cropping?

If not what's the resolution for scrolling?

On any Android phone, the wallpaper is always the height of your phone by two times the width.

For example, the Galaxy Nexus would be [720x2] x [1280] or 1440x1280.

The Galaxy S II would be [480x2] x [800] or 960x800.

Yes, it scrolls through fine.. images are crisp. You only need the 2x resolution images if you want the full image to show between screens.. if you don't care, and just want to crop part of a high res image, I use 1920x1200
