Hey guys,

I have been reading the Gtv forum and havent really read anything on what files specifically do the Logitech and Sony stream. It looks like the Sony BR player is better with streaming.

I was thinking of getting one of these devices so i can stop using my ps3 and stop switching back forth between my Dtv box and the PS3.

What files formats have you been able to stream?

plays divx and xvid files just fine for me. avchd gives no picture at all and mp4 gives me video but no audio. all of those files play just fine on my ps3, so i'd say the revue has some issues

These are the supported file formats (according to Logitech's website)

Revue Customer Care-Answers

What media formats are supported on Logitech Media Player?

The Logitech Media Player supports many different file types, including:

Audio

MP3 - MPEG-1 Layer 3
MP4 - AAC
M4A - AAC
OGG - Vorbis (Only when a USB device is connected to Revue)
Video (Currently in Beta)

MKV - H.264/AVC
FLV - H.264/AVC, H.263
MTS/MT2S/TS - H.264/AVC
AVI - H.264/AVC, DivX MPEG4, XVid MPEG4
Images

JPEG
PNG
GIF
BMP

How are you guys finding these files on your network?

You have to have a DLNA server set up. There are plenty of solutions for that, and Windows 7 (possibly others) include it by default; you just have to turn it on.

Oh yes. I forgot about this. I had been streaming videos via Boxee and but from a local machine. Once on this is all access via the Media Player App correct?

ok here's a quick update: it seems to play the video for WMA fine, but there is no audio. since WMA isn't even on the list, i'd say this is a plus that at least there is a picture...

still testing...

I'm having no problems streaming wireless to wireless with XviD (AVI), Divx (AVI), x.264 (MKV), h.264 (MKV). I have not tried any WMV as I don't think I have any.

Sound and Picture are very good. I am getting some slight interuptions here and there (It's probably due to using wireless connections on both ends.)

I'm impressed, but the UI from the media player sucks balls. Someone please develop a boxee app and life will be perfect.

@ myalover: Boxee has said that they are working on a Boxee app for GTV.

For those who have streamed MKV's, what bitrate and what audio type were they? I've read that the Revue can't handle DTS audio, and that it chokes on high bitrate files.

Also, can you stream FLAC audio to the Revue?

well mkv is a no go for me. i'm thinking its because the files all have dts sound, which apparently chokes this thing without transcoding. i'll try some mkv files with ac3 tonight, but so far i'm not particularly impressed with the media streaming capabilities at all...

oh, and it plays flv files just fine, so all three of you with files in that format should be happy...

latest update. got mkv to play. the catch is that it has to have ac3 (dolby digital) encoding. if so, it plays flawlessley, both in 1080p and 720p. any mkv file with dts will show video, but won't play any audio (just like wmv files)

I am able to play MKV H.264 the ONLY format I have had issues with is any files coded with DTS.
I have successfully played in both 720P and 1080P
MKV / H.264
MPEG4 / H.264
AVI / H.264
Once I strip DTS everything seems to work great... there was a video article on Revision3.com that was saying the Revue is stripping all 5.1 from all inputs (including live TV) and outputing in stereo, they are hoping this will be fixed in the next firmware update (HOPING)
