What MicroSD will for in a G4?

MicroSD for G4

I have ordered an LG G4, and it's arriving this week. Now, i obviously need to buy expandable memory for it in the shape of a MicroSD card, but my question is which one?

I have found a 64gb SanDisk Ultra Micro SDXC card... Will it work in the G4? I understand that not all devices that take micro SD are compatible with the SDXC cards..

Does an "extreme" 95MB/second card make much of a difference? They're 2X the price, but hate laggy photo/video loading, and as we know, some of these photo files are big .

Good question. I wish I had the expertise to answer it, but I will say that there's got to a point where the bottleneck becomes the I/O on your phone, not the speed of the card, and the really fast cards can get pricey. The card you picked is faster than the standard 10X cards, so while I think you'll be fine with it, I'd certainly like to hear other informed opinions.

So, all in all what do you make of the G4? How long have you had it? Any cons so far? The only thing that was stopping me is coming from the front facing speakers of the HTC One (M7) to rear speakers of the G4, but i have read reviews where people have said it's really not a problem.

What is the sound quality like?

What is the sound quality like?

I am a very new adopter of the G4. I'm still within my 14 day return window, but I'm planning to keep it. Sprint doesn't have a better phone IMO. I looked at the new HTC (I'm an HTC fan), but read too many negative user reviews. I'm coming from a Droid Turbo (Verizon). That phone was a beast, and I do miss the battery, but the extra screen size and lighter weight of the G4 helps make up for that shortcoming (plus the battery is getting the job done, and a second battery is on the way thanks to the promotion).

Astonishingly, the phone volume sounds the same to me whether I have the phone face pointing at me or the back pointing at me. I don't know how LG managed that trick. Until you asked, I just assumed the opposite, but I just tried it, and (to me), the placement of the speaker in the rear is inconsequential on the G4. I don't how well it sounds in a crowded room, but sitting in the privacy of my home office, it's very loud. I would never turn it all the way up unless I was competing with exterior noise.

I hear you on the M9. To date the M7 is the best phone i've ever had, but IMO HTC have not done enough of an upgrade to keep me. I think i've made the right decision going for the G4. The only other handset i like the look of is the upcoming Nexus 5 (2015), but i can't be bothered to wait for it.

Thought that was only a June promo...I bought mine in early July and the only promo I could find that was still active was for the extra battery/leather back

Well I'm in the UK, and getting the handset from my network as an upgrade. There is no such promo that I've heard of anyway.

it might be U.S. only. it definitely doesn't matter if u buy it subsidized through carrier or not.

also I bought mine in June but received it in July. I found the June promo through Google and filled with it and received the package with the sd card.

It's not perfect by a long stretch. It's based on the g3 kk launcher but updated for L. code still based on kk though, supposedly. I have nova prime and had a g2 before this. double tapping the screen is a huge draw for using this phone and even with some tricks it never worked as well as the stock launcher so I used the g2 launcher exclusively on that phone. haven't used prime in about a year and a half. not sure if it's any better now.

there's a lot I don't like about stock but it's certainly usable.

The stock launcher wasn't a big hit with me. I tried for a couple of days before reverting back to -- you guessed it -- Nova Prime. I had a backup of the settings from my old phone, so it was a fairly painless process get to back right where I was (which is nice because I have a lot of folders, and quite a few widgets).
