I for one would to like to see android incorporate aim and have it being pushed just like the native gtalk client even if its basic. I have had gtalk logged in all day and have not noticed any battery drain. Also the ones in the market have not been reliable for me.

I would also like to see pinch to zoom imbedded throughout the whole system. In the gallery I would like to swipe to go to the next/previous pic.

Just like somebody else has said, the music player needs to be revamped. Make it prettier. I also would more controls for the wired headset than just play/pause. Double click to go forward and triple click to rewind or go to the previous song.

Yes and specifically what we need is an app that SYNCS the Photo Contacts from Picasa into the Droid. Picasa has the pretty amazing ability to recognize all the faces in your My Pictures (or anywhere else you store photos), isolating individual faces out of group photos. It will ask you to name a face and then make very good guesses as to whether that same face is contained in other photos on your computer. Heck, I've even seen it accurately name the distorted face reflected in a puddle of water or an Xmas tree ball ornament!

So anyway, once you've named the face it matches it to your Google Contacts. So why the heck can't a Droid app take the next step and sync that Photo Contact into your phone? That would save a whole lot of time and effort in uploading individual photos into your phone just to match it to a contact.

Yeah most phones have a notepad.. I was disappointed that the Droid doesnt have one. On the plus side there a few really nice notepad apps in the market

I'm going to join the masses and vote for true voice dialing (handsfree completely) similar to what my BB had. Also, the FB app needs to be better - how can there be no inbox? Cut and paste needs to improve dramatically to allow for more accuracy and more apps that allow it. Finally, fix the Car Dock app. I like the concept, but the buttons offered on that menu reflect some poorly thought out ideas about how it's used. Do you expect me to type? Then why have the search button that brings up the text box? At least allow us to customize those to more useful things.

For the people who were mentioning a notepad that syncs, may I recommend Evernote - just came out in beta in the Market. Lets you create notes of various types including pictures, syncs them to an account on Evernote that you can then visit from your desktop.

For the person requesting folders in Gmail, this is easy - same concept, but they call them "labels" now and you can create as many as you'd like on the actual Gmail site. It's nice because you can tag any email with multiple labels, so if you get one from Mom talking about the house, you can tag it "Mom" and "House" and it'll show up in both searches.

I would like to see the ability to rotate the screen any direction, like my palm pre. Also perhaps a more intuitive way to switch through applications, also like the pre. Plus more multitouch integration would be nice, and revamped native camera/music apps. The current ones are lacking. Also aq desktop manager to sync information, although Doubletwist is great for music syncing. Bluetooth voice dialing, anda unified calander app so I can see all my appointments and such in one view.

I'm pretty sure the whole simultaneous calls and data thing is a limitation of Verizon and CDMA, no Sprint phones can do that either (unless connected to WiFi.

1. Google Docs App. How is it I have to download a mediocre 3rd party app for this on my Google phone? This should also allow opening of MS Office docs, as the online Google Docs does, and should sync seamlessly.

2. It's not a unified inbox if my gmail is in a different inbox - bring the functionality of the gmail app to other imap accounts (to the extent possible) or in any case merge the gmail and regular email applications. (note that I've tried just having the gmail account in the regular email, but you lose critical functionality)

3. This Facebook app is a crime. Like everyone else here, I think the Facebook app needs to have significantly better integration - on my BlackBerry, it would pull out the notifications from my email and turn them into Facebook updates visible in the (truly integrated) inbox, which would then launch within the Facebook app when selected. Android needs this, and transparent/customizable contacts synchronization. Also, where is Facebook chat, and the ability to look at mail and everything else without launching the web browser? If you're designing a Facebook app and you're having it launch the browser to allow certain functionality, guess what, you need to keep working on your Facebook app.

Droid top 10 wants

Had my Droid for a month after moving from a Palm based device (my beloved Kyocera 7135); these are my top 10 wants for the Droid:

1. Basic PIM functions like Palm/other PDAs: Integrated Mail/Calendar/Todo/Notes that syncs with Desktop Outlook without having to rely on "Cloud".
2. Sort Contacts by LName/FName like 99% of other apps.
3. Empty Trash in mail.
4. Ability to create own email folders and move mail between folders.
5. Built-in file mgr with ability to delete/move unwanted built-in apps to SD Card.
6. Ability to run apps from SD Card.
7. Multitouch like our Brit Buddies.
8. Better cut/copy/paste capability.
9. Built in option for Palm-like Graffiti entry (some apps out there like MobileWrite).
10. Ability to end/shut down apps or indicate don't start and run in background on their own.

Other than that love my Droid!!

I would love for them to fix the massive lag when scrolling on webpages. After messing around with my brothers iphone, after the new update on my droid, the iphone destroys the droid for browsing speeds and scrolling. Absolutely no comparison. I never once hiccuped nor experienced ANY choppiness how I am on my Droid.

Dont get me wrong, I love my Droid but one of the main features I got the phone for was for the Browsing and right now its not cutting it since the update.

Oh, and also, do something about the random apps opening in the background like Calender, upload, and a bunch of others. My phone constantly has 6+ programs running when I havnt even opened 1.

My Treo 700p had a keyboard hack that turned long presses into capital letters. I got so used to it that now I'm always doing long presses on my Droid, expecting a letter to get uppercased and instead all I get are those annoying accent boxes. (By the way is there any way to disable those accent boxes? I never use them!)

Anyway I'd sure love to have that kind of keyboard hack for my Droid.

I'm finding apps to fix most of the annoying stuff, like easily turning off the phone while keeping wifi on and all. BUT the one thing that I'm bummed about is the lack of sounds controls. In Palm world, you had total control. Anything that could create a sound, could be customizied in several ways. So all those notifications and rings in your life could make sense immediately. The one I miss most: a simple cascade, where the phone rings softly to start and gradually increases in volume. Great in quieter locales...with the Droid, I'm constantly fooling with volume buttons, and sooner or later, I'm gonna have it set wrong when something important happens.

Ability to better edit how I sort my phone's contact list. Right now it shows all my contacts by first name then last... I would like to sort them by Last name, then first name. I'm surprised there isn't an option to swap the order in which the contact names are listed.

One more...what else do I keep searching for...? By the way, Jag, take a look at Takephone, solves the contact sorting problems, tho' it's still waiting for 2.0 update to work well.
There's a third one. I'll return with that. But cut and paste and encryption. BASIC things.
