I think that a lot of people are waiting for that. I thought it was one of the best devices last year. A refresh would definitely be welcome.

It was the best device last year IMO. If I had known what it would be like, I would've gone two more months with my old phone to get it

IMO, the current Moto X, HTC One, Nexus , LG G2 and a few others are all superior to the Samsung Galaxy S5 for what I want out of a phone, not to mention the refreshes expected in Q2 and Q3 to the former two of that list. I haven't seen enough of the new HTC to make an educated guess about it's relative value, but no matter what I'm not expecting to see anything this year that's leaps and bounds ahead of anything else. It's going to come down to very subjective design language and software preferences for just about everyone, unless there is a specific sought after feature, like OIS for the camera, etc.

I am more inclined to think that this device and MAYBE the next one were in the pipeline from Google. In other words, I believe the next Moto X (whatever it may be called) was approved by Google. After that device, anything goes.

I am more inclined to think that this device and MAYBE the next one were in the pipeline from Google. In other words, I believe the next Moto X (whatever it may be called) was approved by Google. After that device, anything goes.

You could be right. But it still poses a problem. Even though I have switched devices frequently in the past, I wouldn't want to get into a device line that had such an uncertain future.

Good point. I was kind of worries about that too, but seeing as the other OEMs aren't offering anything good in comparison, it's a risk I'm willing to take

I think that's why the Moto X was so brilliant. What it offered was simple and made so much sense. It was hard to fathom why no one else had thought of those features before. I just don't understand why Google would sell that off when they were onto something big. It was the only device that I had regretted not getting. If i knew for sure that they were going to continue the line, I would have gotten the model that was expected to come out this year.

They weren't buying Moto for their hardware partnership. They did it for the patents, which they got to keep, and is what was worth those billions of dollars two years ago.
Motorola said that Google was purely a financial partner, and they were responsible for all of the Moto X. I'm hoping that was true and that they continue to offer a great product experience for their next iteration of it

It happens to iPhone users every year. They hype some super device and then Apple announces a moderate refresh at best. This year has been particular bad with the iPhone 6. If the phone sizes and iPhone "Air" design don't pan out, there are going to be a lot of angry Apple fans out there.

project Ara looks really promising way down the road, but as far as the one to beat the S5 as others said tech takes a big a$$ step every six months so it may come from any of the big dogs in the industry, maybe even the iphone 6, or sony as well cause there handsets are pretty sleek but again i am an android fan all the way
