I suppose for 16$ you could get it and wait for your phone to work with it - or get when you get a new phone.

I have a Pixel XL and Pixel and it works with both of course - might be a couple Motorola ones that got support - others would know

Daydream will only work on certain newer phones with specific components. Google announced at the Google I/O conference that eight hardware partners will make Daydream-ready phones: Samsung, HTC, LG, Xiaomi, Huawei, ZTE, Asus and Alcatel.
