What photo gallery app are you using?

If I could hide folders, I'd stick with Google Photos but since that's not an option I'm using QuickPic for now. I miss the HTC gallery so much.

Never had an issue with Quickpic. Been using it on my last 4 devices.

I see. I have mine setup as external storage. I'm used to the fact that the HTC gallery app sorted pics by albums by default automatically. Photos sorts it by dates and you have to create albums.

Yeah, this is the worst. Also why I sideloaded the old Gallery app. Starting with my M7, there is 3 years of organizing everything in Gallery into folders. If Google photos let you create albums by folder instead of having to go through every single goddamn picture again chronologically, I may give it a go.

U can create albums in Google photos... It just doesn't do it for u automatically

oh i know it can, but it wants me to do everything from scratch.
"create new album -> here is every single picture on your device sorted by date; please select the ones for this album"
i don't have time to manually re-sort thousands of images that were sorted as i acquired them over a 3-year period.

I need something like:
"create new album -> here are the folders within your images folder; please select which folder contains the images for this album".

that way, i'd only need to to this about 10-15 times and be done in a minute.

Yeah but you have to go thru potentially thousands of photos, clicking on individual photos and choose which ones you want in the album. With HTC gallery, if you took a selfie, it'll automatically create a album called Selfie and put all your future selfies in there.

well technically google photos create those folders... they are in the device folders tab

are you using the new version, or the pre-Cheetah Mobile version?
I'm tempted to try one of the old build, but worried about reduced functionality like there is in the sideloaded Galltery app.

I had Piktures and Google photos, until google photos sucked up my battery 30% in half a day. I didnt even open it once.

Since then i deinstalled and deactivated it, lets hope it stops.

I don't like Google photos either. My main dislike is that edits on photos do not save the original copy. Learned this the hard way by losing some nice photos.

I use A+ gallery and really like it a lot.

It didn't delete your original just only displayed the edited version

Go to the edited picture in Google photos then go to edit screen and select undo edits, it'll restore your original photo

Okay. Thanks. I don't know how long history will remain, but my wife lost some nice original shots after editing with Google photos.

Idk the exact length or if they ever get rid of the original photo but I just went to a photo I took and edited (cropped & adjust colors) on september 3rd to see if it worked and it restored the original

I think that was his point. That Google Photos doesn't make albums directly and that HTC Gallery does
