What processor does the Nexus 6p have

What processor does the Nexus 6p have? How do I know what makes a good processor? Could I get some help here?

It has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor. From a design standpoint, this is similar to the Exynos 7420 that's in the S6 and the Note 5 (but the Exynos is fabricated by Samsung).... Hexacore processor...

Now, it is actually an extremely powerful processor, but this is one of those cases where the design was a little bit too far ahead of the manufacturing methods as the way they build the chips meant that the cores generate a lot of heat (Samsung uses a newer process, so the Exynos runs a little bit cooler). On the first versions of the 810, like the G Flex 2, they had to throttle the speeds down at times to help keep things cool. Qualcomm released a few updates and the OEMs have had a while to better figure out the chips..

So it kind of remains to be seen how well the 6P will run.

Now, that isn't to say that it is a bad chip... when the thermal throttling kicked it, it turned out to be about as fast as the Snapdragon 805 and 808s.... which are, in their own respect, VERY fast. But the 810 has better graphics handling and superior image processing... so even if it just ran the same as those two chips, it'd be a good chip. If they got it to the point where they figured out how to properly govern the chips speeds to balance performance vs heat... well, it's a fast chip.

My thoughts on the 810 have changed since last spring.... back then, I would have avoided a phone with it.. Now? Not so much. Huawei does a great job with hardware and between them and Google, I suspect that the 6P is going to run great.
 
The Exynos is 14nm,the s810 20nm.

Oh... if this doesn't make any sense.... the number refers to a particular size structure when they create the chip at the factory. The smaller they can make things, the less waste heat is generated (by things like internal resistance).

If only someone could come up with a room temperature superconductor. :)
